Pretty sweet game, even though I can't seem to stay alive in a Titan for very long. Feels like someone shot som UT into COD.

It really is bug ugly though.

Call of Duty: Titanfall

in a lot of ways, many of which i'm sure are more apparent on console where mobility is more restricted and there's auto-aim out the ass, but on PC this isn't the binary first-to-ADS setup CoD is. i'd go as far as to say if you're using anything but a shotgun at mid-to-close range, you're totally fucked against a player with a good handling of vertical movement.

the lesson here is ADS is exposed as a terrible crutch when you give the more dexterity minded players the tools to make the most of their mouse and keyboards, but i'm sure the lesson respawn will take from it is "we should nerf the shotgun".

Am I the only one who rarely gets in his Titan? I usually just put it in follow mode and go on foot. The Titan AI is decent enough that I tend to kick ass that way.

Also, I never ADS because the shotgun is fucking great

i've completely adopted this now and barely lost a pilot on pilot encounter since. bunny hopping to the nth degree.

titans are just these marauding nuisances that i try to avoid. kinda a bummer when half the other team is in them and there are no pilots left to go after.

the bots are a horrible band-aid solution to the low player count. i get zero satisfaction from killing them and more often than not all they serve to do is obfuscate the dude who you actually want to shoot at. if there must be bots, they should be clearly identifiable and relentlessly pursuing a defined objective, like a tide that must be stemmed in-between getting your jollies hunting down pilots.
I think (hope) there is more to the AI than what they have shown. Hopefully there's more stuff akin to hacking the spectres or game modes where they play a role

It's really fun. The mobility makes this kind of unlike CoD. I mean there's still a lot of running around with you're head cut off, but there's alot more to do with that running.

But now I don't really buy the whole it has to be 6v6 thing. The maps seem big enough. Titans seem easy enough to kill. I don't get why the maps couldn't be more populated. I really do not like bots in MP games and I feel like I shoot more bots in this game.

My god the game is fun. It honestly makes it a little hard to go back to battlefield. I tried to the other night and it just didn't feel right.

I love the speed in this game. It so amps the intensity but it feels so right. It's not like just cranking up the speed setting in COD and its not like a gimmick thing like cranked in Ghosts. It just feels like its the right speed. I wish I could have stored up all the epic stuff I've done in the beta. Some fights are almost like these ballet matrix duels where I just chase people through windows on roofs and then jump down and back up and circle around them. Unfortunately the game is so intense I never remember to actually save them. Here are just two random games from last night that I just happened to hit game dvr the last 5 minutes. They really need to increase that on xbox one. If it was just 10 minutes I could record any game and go back and clip out the amazing shit and not forgot.

And that shotgun might be my favorite shotgun in a game ever. It just decimates.

The only thing I don't like about the shotgun is the slight delay to it that I find really hard to adjust to. You can double-tap it though, which is nice, but I'd rather have it be more responsive.

Game is really fast paced and fun. I'm a little concerned about how deep it's going to be. 15 maps is great to start out but the game play won't change much. I'll still get it. It runs super smooth on my PC at high settings.

I think the game modes will really be the deciding factor.  They can do some cool stuff with the titans and pilot mix I'm sure and hopefully it's not just the same recycled standard FPS game types

Them skill ceiling is higher just by virtue of the increased mobility. Add Titans and whatever other game modes they can come up with and it's going to be more interesting to play in the long term than CoD.

Agreed.

I don't think the modes will honestly be that different from standard fps fare. But for me techniques and possibilities in how you approach situations is so much greater just dictated by the gameplay mechanics. I feel like every game I learn something new about how to handle a situation. That phase was over years ago in COD.

Been playing this with the PS4 controller, and I'm sort of dumbfounded by the result. There is something that ain't right when ones performance increases when using a gamepad. I get that it's not a game about precision aiming, but come on.

Aim assist is turned on by default with the controller. It's a pretty heavy assist too if you ask me. I turned it off and found my performance decreased dramatically. It's not really fair to players that want to not play with it on.

Nailed it. Fighting the Titans though on the ground... I dunno. Feel like I'm generally losing battles.

As for the graphics... Source engine.

Edit: I also REALLY do not like the "Evacuation" moments at the end of the round. Simply end the round and declare us winners. I don't care about "humiliation"/killing people so they can't respawn at the end of the round.

Unless you're going to put in a "Rush" mode like Battlefields to where the losing team has to evacuate to somehow "win" a minor EXP boost for losing the round, then I'd be kinda interested as it'd be an objective. As it is it's just a nuisance and pointless.

Unless it's some substantial experience gained, I'll pass. I'll suicide and wait until the next round starts and get more EXP from the grunts and enemies than the one-minute end-round-wait-time-annoyance.

I had a lot of fun with it even though I suck ass. I'm actually having more fun on foot than with the titans. Out of the multiplayer shooters I've played in recent years this is one of the few where I felt like I could actually move around and have some freedom. Too many of these types of games feel either restricted or slow. But I'm probably talking out of my ass because I have very little experience with these games.

Yeah. For real real. I'd like to know too

Had originally preordered a regular edition copy with the BestBuy gamers unlocked club (20% off all new games) for that price. Then I heard that some folks were getting emails about upgrading for free to the collectors edition. I thought why not and so I called up and spoke to someone about it and they were nice enough to make it happen. It probably helps that I spend a lot of money at BestBuy and that they don't want to hold onto those massive boxes in their warehouses.

Even got the guide and controller for half off due to another promotion. Sadly the Atlas headsets weren't available for order at the time or I would have also purchased that in the deal I was offered. I ended up getting the XO fours for $29.XX at Target though.

I also get $10 worth or rewardzone points too for preordering... yeah I know kinda crazy

Hyped to play this but I'm definitely rental only. There's not enough content to justify a $60 pricetag.

Quote from: Venturebeat
For a multiplayer-only game, Titanfall should have some amazing options and ways to play. But it doesn’t. It has a very healthy number of maps (15), but the lack of interesting new modes will make you feel shortchanged for not getting a single-player campaign. Hell, even shooters like Halo 2 from two console generations ago offer more in the multiplayer-options department. A lot more. It all feels like a temporary stop for Respawn on the way to Titanfall 2.
