My experience is that if someone wants to ban something from a board, they tend to see stuff like that as either a cutesy attempt to circumvent the rule, or a deliberate attempt to push the envelope.  The results are rarely good.

So I guess my advice is not to say anything EB-related at GAF unless you're okay with the possibility of getting your account banned (which is obviously your own call).

Banning the names of news sites works pretty well - better than I thought it would.  People will post their thread, and it will quickly die even if there are no mods around.

Much of what's going on reminds me of the small college I went to. It was a tiny school that, against all odds, had incredible programs in everything from Chemistry to Pottery. They had some of brightest minds teaching, well funded departments, yadda yadda. And it was pretty madcap, this place where everything got done "wrong", but the end product was capable, well rounded students. They produced Nobel winners, the inventors of the Hemi, poet laureates, yadda yadda. And then marketing to ahold of the place and decided it was time to "shape up". They'll be lucky if they make it to 2030 at this rate. Trying to collar the magic is always a bad idea.

lol I find that the vast majority of my bans come from the gaming forum, so I stay out for the most part outside of typical Media Create fun and joke posts/LOTR pics in megaton threads. The favorites really rub shit in your face on the gaming forum
