If you pre-order Lara Craft Diablo you get Tomb Raider Legend free.

I wish it was Underworld.  Already beat Legend on X360 but haven't played Underworld yet :|

Anyhow, some of you guys should jump on this because I need a coop buddy to play the game with next week!

Where did you hear that?  I thought the only version without coop was XBLA version which is getting patched the day the PC/PSN versions get released so all 3 are on equal grounds.

SE's Press Release from a few days ago says:

Quote
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be available on PlayStation Network and Steam on September 28, 2010 for $14.99. The game will feature single player and full offline co-op campaign gameplay, with online co-op available at a later date. The game is rated T for Teen by the ESRB.

I'm still buying it though because Legend is the only TR game I don't have on Steam. Hopefully "a later date" is soon.

I tried playing Raceteer demo.  Too much talking so I skipped everything and then the dungeon crawling was ultra simple and my recruit died in like 4 hits.  Guess it's not for me.

Tried playing KoTOR since I got it for $2.50 the other day and...it doesn't work :\  Man, I have to say my experience with older games & steam has been fairly awful.  Lots of buying games for cheap only to find they won't run.  Even tried in Win7 compatibility XP mode as Admin and still no luck.  Loads the title screen but the keyboard isn't recognized and neither are the mouse buttons, lol.  Oh well.  Now I'm kind of curious if Jade Empire I bought for like $3 years ago works.  Gonna install that now.

This is why despite GoG's stupid prank shit, they are still needed.  I'd rather keep my pre-2005 PC game purchases to GoG where I know the games will work and be compatible with mods.

Jade Empire runs great (I had to put it on XP compat mode).  Seemed kind of neat.  I really should play it one of these days to see the power of 9.9 (plus it should give a good idea of how Dragon's Age 2 will play since they're both arpgs)

Joe, how is faerie solitare?  I see you've played 10 hours of it ;)

I like my solitaire, and it was a fun variation that I hadn't played before. Well, really I've only played Windows Solitaire (Klondike), Freecell, and Spider Solitaire, because I don't like paying for Solitaire games, but it was only $3.50, so what the heck. Plus there's some story about faeries and an evil wizard and you can collect Pokemon, but I skipped all the story and the Pokemon can't fight so they're pointless.

I tried playing Raceteer demo.  Too much talking so I skipped everything and then the dungeon crawling was ultra simple and my recruit died in like 4 hits.  Guess it's not for me.

Dunegon crawling is only useful at the first of the game (and you shouldn't get hit at all ;) ), later in the game it's a complete waste of time, item shopping is what this game's all about.

I tried playing King's Bounty: The Legend because I was going through some older steam stuff and on Win7 w/Nvidia cards the game crashes once you start moving in a 3d area.  I searched around and apparently Steam has been automatically downloading a bad patch (1.7) since August 2009 that causes the game to not work on Vista or Win7 with Nvidia and you can't tell it to not patch to 1.7 :X  Another reason why Steam can be annoying with older stuff since sometimes patches break the game and you can't tell steam to not auto-patch (you can, but if you don't have the game installed when you install it, it'll patch to the latest version no matter what).

BUT
there is a fix.  Originally the devs/pub said they were working on a patch.  It's been over a year, I'm assuming they gave up.
Instead if you disable Anti-aliasing & V-sync (can still use v-sync through D3Doverider) it works fine.  So you just don't get any AA.  Annoying but after all these UE3.0 games and GTA4 I'm getting used to jaggies on my PC.  More console like experience!

Apparently Armored Princess & Crossworlds run perfectly fine.  Just effects The Legend.

I actually have The Legend on gamersgate and if I wanted I could play that version pre 1.7 with AA, but eh, more convenient to just play on steam with no AA.

KOTOR has tons of compatibility problems and KB TL has freezes for most Nvidia users.  The freezes are exclusively Steam KB TL, other versions don't seem to freeze.

If you've played City Life or Sim City Societies, here's what changed between those and Cities XL:

-Zones are back, no more placing each individual buildings
-Auto road for all zones, although there is an option to just place a single square zone without roads
-Zones don't have to be perfectly square, they can be just about any shape you want
-Less micromanagement, more macromanagement
-Very informative displays and notices

Basically, even though the online aspect of the game is long gone, if you like city-builders, you will like Cities XL. It's $5, go buy it.

I played the beta and it was pretty terrible then, but it was so focused on the online stuff I can understand why. As a City Builder it was competent but there were some weird design choices (something about road directions, or was it no trains?) and the population seemed to grow in weird areas.

I haven't noticed anything weird like that so far, although I don't think there's any transportation aside from roads, buses, and airports. I mean, yeah, it's a bit on the bland side without anything that really, truly defines it, but it's a solid city-builder [the best, pure city-builder released in nearly 8 years] and its dirt cheap.

It does have a light/dark thing where staying in the dark makes your character go crazy, which actually makes your view worse because it gets blurry and all that stuff.  You get items to light candles and a lantern fueled by oil, but both seem limited.  I never thought the scary stuff was because they were hiding things.  One tense point in the demo is when you need to get by an area filled with water without going in it.  If you stepped in it for a second, you see splashes coming towards you.  There are times when you had to go the water to move forward, and that was just and hoping the monster didn't get you; all you heard was the sound of water splashing getting closer and you tried to climb up a box not wasting time to turn around.  I'm assuming that scary for reasons like that and less because it is dark and things jump out at you.

Yeah that's not even remotely the issue most players are "MELTDOWN WITH RAGE" over. More the fact that the Polycount Pack weapons break the game balance further still.

Same with hats for $2.50. Everything is about 50% too much.

So I just bought the noob rocket launcher and some minor shit that never drops for me (Natascha and Dead Ringer) and got my free hat :heart
