yeah the season premiere was pretty epic but they haven't really set up the arc yet.  I like that it seems like it's going to be more focused than the last season though.

I thought it pretty fun up until the 4th season, where it seemed to become all sorts of awesome. It's still fairly disposable, but that's what makes it so easy to rip through episodes playing it the background.

That's how I'm feeling about Covert Affairs, only about 3 episodes in and I think I'll keep watching it - nothing earth shattering but USA seems to have the high-quality fluff formula down pat.

I feel bad about liking some of the USA shows but they know how to make inoffensive bubblegum formula television that is easy to veg out to on a weekend or a holiday where they show marathons of their stuff.

I've really only liked Monk and Psych among their shows as actual shows and both of those weren't consistent, (although Psych has improved as its gone on unlike Monk which declined somewhat)

That's the best part.  You don't have to worry about picking up where you left off, because there is no underlying storyline.  Just good fun.

Also finished off Better off Ted. Another good show cancelled. Portia de Rossi was so great in that.

Just finished this up. Definitely going to miss it. Pretty decent finale, I don't know if they were aware at that point that the show wouldn't be renewed, but the finale was a fairly satisfying way to leave it.

I'll probably re-watch the first handful of episodes, I was a bit cold on the series until about halfway through the first season. I want to see if they stand up to the rest of the series (likely), and if I was just not in the right mood when watching (also likely).

I've been watching my Babylon 5 boxsets. Up to season 3 now, just watched an extremely pissed off Delenn omgwtfpwn her way through half of a certain episode (if you'll forgive me for that expression).

That said, man, nostalgia goggles are a bitch, aren't they. It's not a bad scifi series, but geez, my memories of it are way more awesome than the actual product.
Also, the transfer quality is quite horrible on these German DVDs. Once again I receive the inferior product by buying, instead of pirating, something. Why do I even bother. :(

I watched it about 3 or 4 years ago for the first time ever and I thought it was great. (Outside of that first season). Overall still my favorite sci-fi show of that type ever.

Makes me sad no current space sci-fi shows that I like currently exist.

Yah, it's good, I'd be insane to claim otherwise, but the contrast between reality and memory was a bit shocking.

However, the characters are just too awesome.  I can't possibly not watch this and enjoy it.

Three's probably the best, can't wait for more next later this year.

I loved how it was fully brought into the 21st century (the way they handled texting was pretty awesome) while not being "THIS ISN'T YOUR GRANDFATHER'S SHERLOCK!". It actually seemed one of the more faithful adaptions to the original characters I've seen.

Edit: There's also that bit of disheartening synchronicity that Watson is again coming back to London as a army doctor who was wounded serving in Afghanistan  :-\

Haha the season 3 premiere pins down exactly why Starbuck and Lee Adama are my least favorite characters and why Admiral Adama and Tigh are my favorites.
I restarted the whole show after reading this post just because I wanted to see all the New Caprica stuff again. Incredible TV, even if the show ended up being sorta disappointing as a whole

edit: Omg I forgot about Fringe thanks to the bitches at Fox doing their best to kill the show

the talent there is Steven Moffat, who became head writer starting with the latest Doctor Who series (the 5th of the new doctor who).  Moffat only wrote an episode or two for each of the previous four series.

Doctor Who is great regardless, but if you're going in because of Sherlock, just understand that most of it isn't that style or quality.  Even in the 5th series, where the most number of episodes are from Moffat, there are a few stinkers that he was less involved with.

also, series 5 is mostly stand alone if you want to get in at that.  The Moffat episodes from older series might require a bit more background on the characters.

Has there been a recent changing of the guard at Fox, or in their TV division? If so, it's pretty common to try and undermine the successes of one's predecessor.

The show comes into its own when the mythology takes center stage and the Monster of the Week stuff gets sprinkled in here and there. So its around mid 2nd season where it hits its stride. But even then there's some great episodes between the first episode and then.

Watched the "unaired pilot" of this last night. Fan-freaking-tastic. It looks like it was just some re-edit of "A Study in Pink," which was episode 1... not sure where it differs though. I liked everything about it, except maybe the actor playing the serial killer, who didn't seem to keep up with the material.

Watched Hung over the last few weeks. Decent enough show. Not great but entertaining enough to watch for me. Lots of MILF's on it.

Also downloaded Modern Family which I've never seen but heard good things about. Seems good enough for a network TV comedy. Only watched the pilot episode so far. But I hate this reality show confessional thing comedies seem to think they need to do nowadays. If was fresh when the Office from the UK did it way back when, but now its just getting annoying to me.

I've started watching the UK version.  The tonality of the show can be hard to get into at first, it oscillates between cornball and "gritty realism" frequently, but the characters are actually pretty well crafted for a teen drama.  I like the episodes that manage to steer away from heavy handed melodrama the most.  The first four seasons are on netflix, I recommend giving it a shot.

If you haven't liked what you have seen so far I doubt you will like any more of it. The show never really picks up in the sense of it changing any from what you've seen so far. There are a few plot lines that extend but its not really that kind of show that is about an ongoing heavy plotline outside of a few character things. It's more about character driven moments within the episodes. I really dug it from the start because I totally bought into all the characters but everybody is different.
