Well, I spent the weekend getting in touch with my inner redneck.
Went to watch my first NASCAR race live in Michigan. My parents are big race fans, so I grew up with it. They've gone every year for a while, and this was my first time joining them.
It was pretty weird. Sooooo many bare beer bellies that should not see the sun.
So much redneck though. Too many people with vulgar gag T-shirts. One dude with a Chevy badge tattoo'd on his neck. And one guy who sat in front of me had a tattoo on his side of the Statue of Liberty dual-wielding smoking pistols.
Still, the race itself was pretty good. NASCAR is such a spectacle, what with the military flyover beforehand, etc. Since so many Canadians attend the race, they actually sing the Canadian anthem before the race, which was a nice gesture. But then these guys from "Saving Abel" sang the Star Spangled Banner, and absolutely
brutalized it. Everyone in the stands was looking around awkwardly as it was sung. The A-10s couldn't get there fast enough.

I always take Baz Luhrman's advice.
A-10s did the flyover.
