https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-56742783The UK is continuing to suggest an SPS "trusted trader" scheme which would sharply reduce the controls on eligible traders who could show the EU they have secure and auditable supply chains.
The EU rejected this idea at an earlier stage of the Brexit process.
So for those just joining us:
UK: "We want X"
EU: "Afraid it will have to be Y"
UK: "OK then, let's sign the deal!"
3 months later
UK: "BTW we'll just do X for a while"
EU and everyone else: "The fuck?"
UK: "OK let's meet and discuss. We'd like to do X how does that sound?"
Unbelievable
