As a kid it was never on my radar, i didn't know anyone with n64. Don't think I'd even seen a Nintendo console, were def not popular here in Sega country. One friend got a ps at launch who's parents sold a lot of weed (it's the new Sega!). I got one around the middle of the gen when mum bought me Age of Empires and Civ II for my bday in 1998 but they didn't run on our pc, she felt bad and went back to the store and got me a ps
I didn't even consider the N64, remember playing Pokemon Snap at someone's house i didn't really know well and remember being real impressed, but if OoT had been out by that point I prob would've gone N64. Ended up seeing a vid of it on tv and was blown away by this 3d fantasy rpg where you could ride a horse around an open world fighting monsters. To this day I haven't completed an N64 game
Played a fair of of SM64 on an emu years back, but never finished. Def need to revisit.
