Right, but I never understood the pejorative way people would refer to media as kids' media, because I and everyone I knew consumed it in a healthy way: a fun way to pass some time.
I think my first whiff of my media-peers being emotionally stunted was when Federation Force was announced. Metroid is one of my favorite single player franchises, and when FF was announced and looked dumb, my reaction was, "huh, not interested." Then I went on GAF and there was thread after thread of people having meltdowns over a lame 3DS game.
Now we have RE.

I don't personally mind people being disappointed or airing out that disappointment, even if anger is involved. To have emotions is to be human, after all. But most people would realize they're taking it too far at some point and would catch themselves.
So being annoyed or even angry that the first new metroid after a long drought is the opposite of what you look for? Sure, it can be healthy to vent even on things that don't matter as long as you're aware of that fact. Asking for Nintendo's head and for the team behind it to be fired and the game be cancelled immediately? Go see a therapist and get some meds.

Along these same lines, "calling for Nintendo's heads" is not the juvenile thing here. I mean, sure, it's juvenile, but not because Nintendo needs protecting. The actual juvenile thing is letting a video game you haven't bought make you that upset, either because it was announced or because people don't like it, whichever side.
Now if you buy a game and waste money and it turns out to be trash, I understand getting mad over that. No one likes to be ripped off.

want need them to be. But just because your hobby (especially if it's your biggest) isn't important in the grand scheme of things, doesn't mean you can't be emotional about it and feel bad if the things you like are treated like shit or trying to rip you off.
I think you misunderstood me. I was in no way saying "consume product then get excited for other product" with that. It wasn't a call to be optimistic and positive not to question anything or criticize it. Corporations universally suck and are out for your dollar first and foremost. They don't deserve shit from you no matter whether they cater to you or not. All I was saying is by all means be negative if you feel that way, but within reason cause other things are always more important. Don't buy the thing you don't want and be vocal about what you do want. It worked in the case of Metroid and for another example DMC. Just anything beyond making fun of it or just shitting on it and not buying it is fucking dumb.
tbf I can't remember too many cases in which the "negative side" went overboard to the point that it would be a real annoyance. And even the funniest rage brigades, like against Diablo mobile, at least consist of people who haven't made their favorite conglomerate into an infallible divinity. Overblown critique, but at least it's critique
Fanboyism on the other hand is the biggest cancer if you want to have conversations about anything online. When I was extremely disappointed with gaming developments, the closest thing pushing me towards actual hate would be the manbabies ganging up on you constantly for not sucking corporate tit enough.
