A coworker of mine tried to prove to his wife that quitting smoking was easy. He literally picked it up for a month or so to make a point.

20 years later he's still smoking.

bad vibes thread material.

The worst thing about the smoking ban or rather a little loophole in it is that you can still smoke those half sized cigarettes that charge  in the little usb thingy. They don't smell like cigs. They smell like actual farts. Sure it doesn't stay in your clothes/hair for the next 2 days after you leave the bar, but man is it annoying to smell whatever smoking offshoot that is. Guess this would also depend on the country, but this was still the case in the CZ when I was there over the holidays.

This crap:

My mother died a horrible death from lung cancer; she grew up in a house with 2 chain smokers but never even took a drag her whole life.

 :-\

Sorry to hear that breh.
Smoking around kids (btw. the #1 reason I quit) used to be incredibly common, I vividly remember getting picked up from school by a friend's mom who loved nothing more than chain smoking in her car(windows closed of course because it was winter). :yuck

I like Twitter being a war zone. I think it somewhat helps people realise when their take is fucking horrendous.

Allowing people to further echo chamber themselves will just end in people only getting ones who agree with them replying further making interaction between people with differences worse....

Your coworker is just weak willed, it ain't that hard. I've quit like 20 times already!

just limit "no reply mode" to non-checkmark accounts. then they have to decide if they want bad take protection or a bigger platform to spread their bad takes.

And don't get me wrong I fucking hate twitter and never read twitter threads lol

More just saying since people seem to not care the UX was never designed for conversations and use it for that anyways, that actually being able to control those conversations would be better than how it currently is.
yeah if brands are gonna do this shit anyway then might as well make it easier to follow but goddamn it's annoying. i only use twitter to post game screens and pics of my cat so i'm not exactly the target market anyway.

But yeah shit was wild back in the day.. hard to even fathom being somewhere that allows smoking in bars.. or restaurants.  They banned that in the 90s in Seattle, remember it was still allowed in the State itself, so if you went outside the city you'd see it and I was always shocked.

It's kind of amazing to me how quickly progress has happened on this front. I was a smoker from like 2002 - 2011. I think the smoking ban in Illinois went into effect in 2008. The St. Louis ban was 2011, though St. Louis grandfathered in places like casinos and small bars that sell mostly alcohol and little food. Back in college you could smoke anywhere. Now when I'm around people that still smoke you feel like a pariah. I don't know anybody that smokes inside of their homes anymore.

When I started university in 2003 you were able to smoke inside, on the hallways. The only place where it was prohibited was the lecture hall. Absolutely crazy that they outlawed this only 10ish years ago here.

Albuquerque banned smoking in/near (withing 25ft of a doorway) gov buildings, airports, and any business that didn't make a majority income on tobacco in like 2010, which then led to a bunch of bars building mini "cigar bars" next to the regular bar...and almost all of them closed once people realized everyone smoking in a tiny ass room was disgusting. :lol

If only we could do the same with anime.

We'll get there someday. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Rome is anime, thought.

. THis board routinely treats her like her relationship with Elon is more important than she herself is.

Not to mention this is a thread about pregnancy. And still we get nothing but toxic shitposts.

.   Literally who cares. Like if this is supposed to be an appeal to emotion you've failed to establish why exactly we should be more reverent about this.

Yeah maybe because crassly expressing resignation at the choices of people I don't like isn't a bannable offence.

As far as I'm aware ERA allows you to hate billionaires, parasites of society that they are.

In a way it is, because he's a billionaire and that whole capitalism thing.

You know, the thing.

Hahaha.

I don't have a favorite billionaire, but even if I did, I doubt they'd require me to come to their defense on a message board after people react negatively to a weird publicity stunt.

But hey, I'm sure they appreciate it, friend. Heck, they'll probably name it after you.

 :confused

By this logic RE should operate like 4chan. “I dislike something, I will shitpost about it”.
