The actual death counts for the last six flu seasons have ranged from 3,448 to 15,620. The CDC numbers are generated by multiplying flu death counts by various coefficients, which are based on certain assumptions (I don't think they usually get as high as 80,000 anyway).
So an apples to apples comparison is 3,448 to 15,620 flu deaths without shutdowns, mitigation, and closures vs. 118,520 COVID-19 deaths and counting
with shutdowns, mitigation, and closures.
