I've decided to rewatch/marathon some non-Gundam 80's mecha this summer.

1. Armored Trooper Votoms
2. Super Dimenstional Fortress Macross
3. Aura Battler Dunbine

Starting with Votoms tonight.

It's a damn shame not much ever got licensed for North America, or I'd buy it.

You should pop in some Patlabor too while you're at it.

I support funimation's website. I've watched FotNS on there. Amazing site.

Too bad they're homos and took down the one anime I watch on a regular basis, that being One Piece.

I think you gotta be a dumb dumb to download anime when funimation subs it that same week. I mean seriously. That's why I was so hyped for funimations OP treatment; a dub on a weekly basis instead of a sub? Sign me up.

This is the first time I've heard of the funi site that stream anime; it's pretty awesome.  They have full series both subbed and dubbed up there.  The benefit to fansubs still seem to be the speed they are released, which is at least a couple days before that site gets them up.  I use fansubs just for watching episodes early and deciding which anime to buy in the future, so streaming is good enough for me.  Like, I saw Gungrave though fansubs years ago but still ordered the boxset the other day.

I also like seeing DVD boxes on my shelf  :-[

both are good groups

GG is probably less "serious" though, i remember they put a joke into one of their karaoke (rainbow text) and I think they might have the odd translation note here and there

have you finished watching S1 yet?

Nope!  But I figured I'd download the whole thing since the wife seems interested, meaning she'll go on a marathon session and watch it all over a few days over a day.

The TV series is in three box set that are pretty cheap. It's definitely worth watching.

Just watched Episode 3 of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0.

The little girl is just a total curmudgeon, and annoying, but slightly less so in this episode than in the past two. We get some more destruction and panicked citizens in this episode, although it still hasn't boiled over into total pandemonium just yet, which I expected to happen before the end of the series. The CG people in the background still look kind of wonky, but overall the animation is still fairly decent. Best episode of the series so far.

anything but that

I don't even remember what the story was.  I think some old guy was pedophile who fiddled with war orphans, then magic shit happened because a terrorist teacher, and like, they become older or something and wanted revenge.  Then Eureka had cancer or something and almost got raped at one point, and the mechs are all marshmallows inside armor.  Also, like, red souls or something that can talk when under the influence of steroids.  At one point there was this old lady who became a little girl wearing different clothing for some reason, then she was chilling with some ghost in a giant marshmallow mech.  Naked people randomly everywhere.  Where is the music? what is even going on? who is the old lady talking to the soldier? why is the communication done through giant pixel faces or something? why do these things ride surfboards, or better yet, why did they need to when they have jetpacks? why...I don't even know what's going on

Season 2 is not nearly as horrible as everyone was making it out to be. I've only watched through episode 14, though.

I love how Tohru Furuya, the original Gundam good guy, is now the voice of evil in the latest Gundam series.

The first season of OO was brilliant. Second season isn't bad at all so far. I typically don't hold anime to a high standard, seeing how it's TV made to sell model kits, cards and video games.

Episode 18 brought another appearance of the OO Raiser's OMGWFTBBQ mega beam saber, and then it ends with all the pilots saying the name of their loved ones on their way into battle.... Tieria loves a computer, and Setsuna loves his Gundam.

Started watching Code Geass S2. Everybody getting their memories wiped and Nunnally being the next Governor-General were some LOLworthy developments. I can't wait for Lelou to slap down that little bitch of a fake brother. I also like how the second season maintains the careful balance of Terrorism, Political Intrigue, Mecha Battles, and Generic Anime High School Hijinks (the one girl can't cook, Lelouch gets in trouble for cutting class, it's funny! :lol ).
