just finished season 4 of breaking bad. I don't really care about Walt or Jesse anymore character-wise whatsover but the situation they've got themselves in is enthralling.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
also what happened to Gus was awesome but pisses me off because he was the best character on the show.

I watched the first ep. of American Horror Story:o

Not sure how they'll get past having only one likable character, or how each of them has already been deceived by whatever's going on there, but overall it was a very good first episode. The non-linear nature of it also helps keeps the viewer off balance. Everything is creepy. Everything. Even the sexy maid is creepy. How did they manage that?

Walking Dead

I really didn't like the Merle scene. Too long and ridiculous imo...

But overall a good ep. I'm kinda annoyed that Glenn is this dumb though. Yea that chick is hot, and I'd love to bang her too, but Dale is right: risking safety to bang the hand that feeds' daughter....eh

I'm still shocked this lost girl shit has dragged on for so long. It's annoying as hell. And there are like 2 eps left before the break. Almost nothing has happened in terms of advancing the plot. If this first half of the season ends with the girl still missing, the group stagnated, etc....smh

I can't get into Boardwalk Empire for some reason, so I still disagree. How To Make It is just so supremely relaxing and its production values are the best I've ever seen on HBO. Seriously, look at that show. The interstitials, title cards, music choice, cinematography.

Man, I finished Breaking Bad Season 3 on Friday.  Fucking shit.  That ending :o

The entire show my wife is always telling Walt or Jesse to grow some balls.  JESSE FINALLY DID (although crying like a wiener while he did it).  Damn, so good.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I was kinda hoping Walt really did turn into a bitch when he started crying and saying he'd give up Jesse.  I was like oh yes, Walt is a bitch!  I knew it!  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Boardwalk Empire S1 was alright, but rarely compelling. The characters are just not interesting - there's just nothing there. Outside of young Capone and the guy with the mask, everyone is bland. I still haven't bothered myself to watch the S1 finale, which I hear is good.

Yeah, I think it was the best ep of TWD yet. Action, zombies, character development, plot development, Daryl being a badass. Had it all.

Now, the overall direction of the show I'm more unsure of (five eps spent on trying to find a girl?), but this individual episode is exactly what the series should be every episode.

That's my opinion too. The start of this season was pretty shakey, but the last few eps have reminded my why I like it.

Is it really cancelled? Last I heard this was a full 26-ep season.

I don't get the Community hate - I mean, I love it but I don't understand why the people who dislike it are really super vocal about it, feel the need to bag on it continuously, pretend its not funny, etc.

I guess I don't read TV threads on the internet so that could be a large part of why I like it

I don't think it's pretending.  I mostly like community but it's not a show I watch to laugh like I do with Parks and Rec or Happy Endings.  The last episode with the Dean running into Jeff at the clothing store was probably the first time I laughed this season.  And as good and clever as that alternate universe episode was, I didn't think it was funny.  It's a fun show to watch, just not "haha" funny, if that makes any sense.

Maybe people are pretending something isn't good when they secretly know it is because of some inexplicable psychological defect.

Or maybe they troll for basically the same reasons you do, only they like different shit.

Community has been a favorite of mine for a while – smart, innovative writing that flips the sitcom tropes on their heads.  I like Dan Harmon's approach to sitcom writing.

I think Parks and Rec is my favorite show at the moment: Adam Scott should be a much bigger name than he is now.

ABC comedy starring the hot chick from 24, a girl from SNL, Damon Wayans' son who is smoking hot, the crazy chick from the last season of Scrubs, and a funny as fuck improv actor who plays the best gay character ever

mind you season 2 is MUCH better than season 1 but season 1 isn't that bad either

It's one of those shows that just gets better and better, but starts off a little weak I admit. Season 2 has been pure, solid, comedy fire.

Also Happy Endings and Community share writers, so you can see a lot of similarities.

I watched the first episode of Vietnam in HD last night.  I've always had a particular interest in Vietnam because my dad spent quite a bit of time there and it fucked up his life pretty good.  So this was right up my alley in the fact that it follows Joe Galloway's reporting from the grunt's eye-view.  I always wanted to try to understand more about the events that had such an impact on my dad's life.  This is a great source of information for how the soldier's lived the war.  If you've seen WWII in HD it's kind of similiar in the way the shows are structured, but the content is completely different.  There's no ooh rah victorious and righteous stuff going on (yet at least).  It sticks mostly to dry facts and passes over controversial stuff like Gulf of Tonkin to get to the battles and interviews.  Really interesting and very different than how Vietnam is usually portrayed.
