Is there much Alison?  She's my favorite.  I'd watch a show entirely about her.

Yeah, it's very much as silly as her storylines usually go. But it has a pretty fantastic thematic reference to The Yellow Wallpaper, as if OB had to deconstruct patriarchy vs. female agency any more.

Season 1 of 24 is legitimately the best one imo. The concept is the freshest there. And if you only were going to watch one season of the show that would be the one to watch.

Some of the other seasons are trashy great also with some real high moments. But the first one was always my favorite.

24 was another good example of trashy TV that worked very well when it was at its strongest.

Watched the season finale of Parks and Rec.

I didn't think it was as bad as somebody mentioned in this thread. I also probably didn't think it was quite as good as some of the reviews made it out to be. It was okay. Good even. But that's kinda been the problem with Parks and Rec in the last season or two. It went from consistently great to sort of these average to good episodes for the most part. It honestly felt like a series finale rather than a season finale and I kinda wish it had been that. Supposedly next season is the final season but everything seems so wrapped up at this point, I'm not sure how you do another season without it feeling like retread.

Yep. It's kind of the last link in the great Thursday night NBC comedy line-up that stretched back decades to shows like Cheers, The Cosby Show, Night Court, seinfeld, 30 rock etc.

That was always their prestige high profile comedy night. End of an era unless something really hits for them.

It's artistic gore in such a way as to be beautiful. Plus, you rarely see any actual violence -- at least not until this season.

There have only been two gory scenes in movies that have really turned my stomach. One was the ear scene from Reservoir Dogs, and the other was from one of the Hannibal movies, I forget which one, where he was cutting off pieces of a still living guy's brain and feeding them to him. Makes me nauseous just thinking of it.

So Hannibal is probably not the show for me.

Stop pretending like there's no difference or being offended because people don't want to watch torture porn. Crucified children slaves makes me gasp from horror but they don't make me want to cry or throw up. I cried when I watched some scenes in True Detective and that's lightweight.

Hannibal isn't torture porn. Every disturbing image is symbolic, artistic, and done in such a way as to mirror or emphasize parts of the plot and the surrealist world the show takes place in. It doesn't revel in its violence -- there's a point to it.

AMC has to in order to survive. After Mad Men is over they'll only have Walking Dead. :neogaf Which is admittedly a ratings stealer, but still. FX is quickly taking over where AMC was at a few years ago.

FX has always had much more good original programming than AMC. AMC just hit on two really big critical darlings and then hit the ratings jackpot with TWD.

Louie was amazing tonight, and again I liked the first episode better than the second. Guest star Sarah Baker delivers a jaw-dropping monologue filmed in a single shot towards the end that really blew me away. This season is clearly going to be one of the best in the series based on these four episodes alone. I can't wait to see what the multi-part episodes are like :hyper

The show and movie are only very loosely related. You don't need to see the movie first, but you'd be doing yourself disservice not watching it at some point.

most recent episode make Fargo seem like a sequel to the original

as in a major unresolved plot point from the film is picked up and used in the tv show

but i wouldn't say that knowledge of the film is important to knowledge of the tv show

also if you like Fargo, you may want to check out the upcoming film Kumiko The Treasure Hunter

http://kumikothetreasurehunter.com/

(also based on a true story, lol)
(but this one may be true)

How does all this work? Is it like King of Fighters or some shit but with Disney?

It starts out as the main character Emma Swan (who is an original character) + Snow White and Prince Charming vs. The Evil Queen. Emma gave up her son for adoption, he was adopted by The Evil Queen Mayor, who lives in the real world now with a town full of other fantasy characters that have all forgotten who they really are. The son tracks down his birth mother and brings her back to town to save everyone, hijinks ensue. The first season is pretty much that, but in Season 2 & 3, the plot goes all over the place and Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Robin Hood, Ariel, The Wicked Witch of the West, Mulan, and well, I assume you saw the video.

"Oh hey guys, I found it. It was in here. I thought it might be in here."

Classic Whedon.

The show has been pretty consistent since minute 1 IMO. Above average, not really going above that (not even the finale.) People act like the Cap 2 crossover is when the show finally became good but I disagree completely. Show's the same as it was from ep 1.

Glad it's over with, now we can get season 2 which if going by Angel and Buffy, should be a fan favorite. :lawd (Those fans would be wrong about them being the best though, that's season 5 for both.)

Hopefully SHIELD gets 5 seasons. :heart

agents of shield totally got better around captain america 2.  only one episode's b-plot felt like the older episodes and it was real bad.  I mean it's become an average show in these last few episodes and it's better if you're into the comic connections.  and the season ended in a good place.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
fitz out of the picture.  ward had no redemption and is better as an asshole.  hacker girl, stock nerd female scientist, black guy, stern asian woman, they're whatever.  pat oswalt is a life model decoy? he's good.  coulson was fun again; his bit role in the movies was the guy who's cool and composed in extreme situations.  turning him into a person and stuff makes him boring.

plus, next season has a clear focus with rebuilding shield.  that's a big reason why the last few episodes worked.
