How long are Hannibal seasons? I no longer have the patience for 24 episodes network crap.

13 I think, but one was removed from US broadcast for reasons I can't remember last season. I think it featured a school shooting? It was going to be aired in tandem with some big tragedy.

Ilana being so frank about her sexuality last episode and craving pink (i.e. white) dick the whole episode only to end up returning home to her black boyfriend to eat cake together was hilarious. I don't think I've seen a character so overtly sexual and yet hilarious, something Girls wishes it could do with ANY of its characters.

Why does she want white dick?

More Girls shade. One day I'll give it a try by every clip I've seen has felt so forced.

She just had a random sexual urge for white dick. She's typically with Lincoln every other episode, though they're in a really open relationship that's kind of more friends with benefits. I think in the first episode she has that Skype chat where she's riding Lincoln's BBC while talking to her BFF.

A lot of good TV right now.

-True Detective
-Justified
-Archer
-The Americans
-Arrow
-Vikings

I think I mourned the loss of good action shows some months ago in this very thread, but Arrow and Vikings have pretty awesome action sequences.

Banshee has better action scenes than Strike Back but Strike Back has better gun porn. Banshee also has better cinematography, tits, and Antony Starr who can emote so damn well with just the shape of his face and his ass is divinity and can turn any straight man gay.

That said, Season 2 of Banshee has been a bit too melodramatic. The producer said every episode would be "50% better than any Season 1 episode" and that's been mostly not true. Also kind of overindulging in the "shots within shots" thing where he intercuts characters doing things in-between them doing other things, such as a character being stoic then the character flailing around in rage for a couple seconds then back to stoicism to emphasize a character's feelings. Or intercutting a character in introspective reflection with something they'll do 10 minutes later.

Banshee S2 kinda feels like Cinematographer's Experiment Session a lot of the time. It doesn't work every time.

I've seen a few episodes of Banshee season 1 and the show is definitely seems a lot darker and more serious than Strikeback, which I liked cause it was just nice, dumb fun.

Having recently rewatched it, I kind of think S1 has been overrated. Some of the side plots in the first half are just ehh, and it really doesn't become "great" until you find out what happened to the other marine. And then the finale episodes are god tier.

I honestly think S3 is far more consistent from beginning to end, but I'll give the nod to S1 due to that penultimate episode leaving me on the edge of my seat like few other shows have.

Nah, Jonathan Banks and John Oliver have apparently already signed onto other projects. I've thought Buzz Hickey and the return of Duncan have really improved the cast and helped the show transition to a better balance of there being an actual school and its components/people involved sometimes, which it had way way back at the start for a short period. Troy/Abed adventures and Pierce didn't lend themselves very well to that stuff.

I assume if it does get a sixth season Harmon will stick around to wrap it up.

I have confidence in True Detective, last episode was setting up a lot with everything involving that sheriff. Can't make that move without some major shits hitting a big ass fan. But it did seem Rust and Marty made up a little fast, however they were a powerhouse team starting from their first case. I have faith in HBO and those two actors tho, I will anticipate a fucking incredible finale.

I didn't realize how important the interview structure was to True Detective's success until they were over.  Still some great dialogue, cinematography, and performance, but I'm not anticipating the final episode to exceed what was given to us in episodes three through five.

Regards to True Detective:

I feel like the pacing was a little off in last episode. I felt that they could have begun the episode at the point where Marty is at his ex-wife's place, and then used that to trim off some of the elongated Marty/Rust stuff at the start. Could have summarized via flashbacks (as that part of the episode was already doing) and then pushed forward more into where the arc of the story starts to rise up again.

Spader is awesome, entire reason to watch the show.

It's pretty stupid though and probably thinks it's more clever than it is. Setting up all kinds of dumb mysteries and reveals. Poor sense of time. Sometimes sets up what seems like something interesting, then wastes the whole episode on the case of the week and then suddenly does a dumb reveal for the interesting thing right at the end and then ignores it for three weeks.

The back half of S1 and S2 is good comedy as far as New Girl goes. But S3 the characters' became caricatures, as third-season comedies tend to do nowadays.

Happy Endings had a little of that trouble as well in its third season, but it managed to salvage itself by still being the funniest sitcom to premiere since Arrested Development.

I'm really happy with the fifth season of Justified.  They really stepped up their game here with this season.  I liked S4 but thought it was too slow going at times; not with S5, every episode has a lot of crazy shit going on.  I'm sad that the next season is going to be the last but with Elmore Leonard dead, you might as well find a way to wrap it up while it's still going strong.

Man, this season of Archer just isn't very...good. Sounded like a great idea on paper, but they haven't really done much with it, and the jokes are all falling flat for me. Best part of it is Cocaine Pam (I love that her head is still fat :lol ).

Archer: I've enjoyed the season early on, but lately it does sort of feel like every character but Pam and Cheryl lack a purpose/use within the plotting.  Before, the show could reference spy fiction for gags and fun, but the whole cocaine business has just been wacky ideas to unload the goods and Archer getting shot at. And the characters that the drug trade are bringing in aren't as interesting as the sort of settings and characters the spy trade was creating.

Hannibal
True Detective
Arrow
Almost Human

I need to catch up on that last one. I've missed like four eps since the Carano (:noah) one. True Detective is good but not great. It has a ton of cliches if you're familiar with crime fiction. Arrow is cheeseball as hell but very entertaining and moves at a fast clip. I'm interested in seeing where Hannibal goes this season. If they

kill off Fishburne then they are drastically changing the lore from the books. It would make sense though because his HBO show got picked up

Kinda agree on Archer being a bit flat this season. I think the last few episodes I had on in the background while I was doing other things, never would've done that before.

They really need to lean into the new premise more. The shift away from spy stuff could've been invigorating, but they didn't really refocus on anything else in it's place, it's left it a bit aimless.

Started watching True Detective. It's compelling but it feels a bit over my head and a little meandering (which I know is part of its appeal.)

That tracking shot at the end of ep 4 (which I just finished) is hot as fuck though.  :whew

Also McConaughey looks so similar to the memory I have of Christian Bale in The Machinist it's pretty eerie. Aside from that, the show single handedly turned around my opinion of him completely. I have a lot more faith in Interstellar now.
