Consumers who, for whatever reason, embraced the wiimote have rejected the tablet. And this gimmick controller is going to keep the system's price too high.

quick, read multiple thousand word posts from kajima rationalising why this will never happen and it's for the best that nintendo go the route of tiger electronics, making irrelevant pieces of plastic to fill the shelf space between glenn10 and genuine infantry john figures - before nintendo actually go third party and kajima makes multiple thousand word posts rationalising why it was the right decision all along.

Iwata will step down if they dont make over 100 million in operating income by the next nintendo annual report.  Reggie prolly never.  :(

EDIT: I originally typed Vita when I meant Wii U.  Considering last month's sales, that's pretty amusing.

Well, I think DmC's number is a good bit lower than anyone was expecting, so there's a good chance stores over-ordered, which means you'll get your cheap dirtperson version pretty soon.  Or you can wait til Capcom does a decent Steam sale for the proper version.

there we go

though i worry if Capcom will bite since they seem to be uninvolved at times with steam sales.

I'd originally considered that it would probably do somewhere between the GC and the N64, so around 25-27 million.  I'm definitely revising that down.  Considerably.  We could be looking at SEGA Saturn-ville here.

Are there monthly NPDs for the Dreamcast?

Low bar, but the GameCube had  better exclusive in its launch period--Super Smash Bros. Melee, Rogue Squadron II, Super Monkey Ball, Pikmin, Wave Race: BS, Luigi's Mansion. Next year, it had REmake Metroid Prime, Sunshine, Animal Crossing, Eternal Crappiness, and Wind Waker. Well, the Wii U is getting Wind Waker.

Fair enough. I'd still put my own current LTD expectation at 25-45m WWm, now leaning to the lower end of that, but we'll see how much the first-party lineup this year moves the needle.

The numbers aren't great but the WiiU is still the top selling next gen console on the market. And by the time the PS4 hits the market at $400-500, the WiiU will have a nice price cut and a host of top selling franchises ready to launch. This isn't over. We don't know what Retro has been working on, I have a feeling they'll provide the killer app gamers are looking for.

Just a couple moves can fix this, I really don't see a point in jumping to conclusions. Nintendo is potentially going to purchase Valve, given their financial problems. Also given the ridiculous modern day slavery situation at Ubisoft, I think master talents like Ancel could flock to Nintendo. Those two moves alone would shore up the US and UK markets, and Japan will fall in line for Animal Crossing WiiU.

I'm not really sure what the follow through would have been, but Father_Brain passed along the hint about DmC's sales and said he probably shouldn't link to the forum in question. In and of itself, I don't know if that would have been particularly egregious (I'm legitimately ignorant here), but I don't know if there was an influx of curiosity about what that forum may be or who the source was.

Apparently the GC had sales of 59k in it's third month, also a january. Launch lineup could be called a draw, better exclusives vs. wider 3rd party lineup. Considering how nobody cares for the gimmick, shitty tech and the higher pricepoint 55k now for the WiiU actually seem reasonable. Personally I thought Nintendo could exploit some of the Wii brand recognition but seems like this is not the case at all.

It will be a horrible and very slow death but the Wii U is done. And unlike something like the Dreamcast they won't even go out firing on all fronts and leave some gaming classics behind. Just reheated Mario and Zelda games. The only Jewel I can see on the horizon is Bayonetta 2 but that's going to mega flop on release even worst than the first game. As I don't see the 'Nintendo games only' Nintards even buying it. Hopefully by then the Wii U will be about £120.

As for the Vita, what can you say? The thing was dead on its first reveal.

But like Nintendo, Sony has to keep up appearances.
