His argument is also bullshit considering that even in Turkey people have turned on refugees despite sharing skin color and faith. When there's a sudden huge influx of foreigners tensions are going to be high, that's how it is.
Exactly - turkey is picking up way more than its 'fair share' of refugees, because they're the closest safe haven destination possible, and its not like turkey is an economic super power at the best of times.
Refugees
inherently need a ton of help immediately, and sure, in 25 years time they're going to be the proudest fucking citizens of their new home possible, because they showed up in the proverbial rags without any possessions to their name and got housed, clothed, educated, fed and integrated as per their needs, but thats still a big resource drain upfront, because what else are you going to do? "welcome to your safe haven, figure shit out for yourself quickly, because you're dieing in the gutters if you don't".
Pretending that a hugely complex issue that bounces around all sorts of topics relating to what a society is, the limits of how much help you can give to those who need it without harming yourself by giving that help, the obligations of an international community, what rate of change a culture can endure while still recognisably being the same culture, and integration versus alienation that to boil it down to "cacs dont want to live near brown faces hurr durr" is offensively reductionist
