eh valve saw how successful (i assume) that operations pass shit was and applied it to TF2

whatever, i haven't played the game more than a handful of hours over the past couple of years

Oh, it's successful. But I dunno if they can make the requirements they're doing fit in TF2 for everyone to get done. Like I said: How often are pyro's reflecting blasts and getting kills?

This made me reminisce about when a TF2 class update was coming and it was a big deal with people finding hidden links and images and then spending the first few days achievement farming to get all the new items.

Also that one update that broke the announcer so she just kept saying OVERTIME OVERTIME OVERTIME OVERTIME OVERTIME OVERTIME, and then the complaints when Valve fixed it so they made it a server switch.

And that made me reminisce about old TF2 and when me and a friend would speed-run badlands every single time with scouts and ending the round in like 30 seconds because everyone was headed towards the middle and the scouts had fast cap with the last point being a near instant cap. And when the backburner just came out, and getting ubered with a backburner while in people's spawns was like a horrible pile of dead ragdolls or in general looping above to drop down behind an entire team and get them all in the back when waiting for a gate or something.

The weekend of a class update were insane. I remember the Pyro one, having issues finding a server, then getting on and there would be 9 Pyros and three Spies. That's if I could get in a game, most of my favourite servers were full.

I've barely played it in years, maybe a few hours when the co-op vs AI came out

Mann vs Machine was such a good idea, but executed poorly. You have to complete a round to get the powerup canteen apparently. Which means if you fail to complete a round (and I'm not talking quitting, I mean BEATING the round) you don't get it. Which is "uh... Valve, really?"

Medic, Pyro and Heavy updates were like the crazy ones. Then Scout and Sniper v. Spy started to trickle off, like it wasn't as huge, affecting every server and player.

EDIT: Looking at the TF2 Wiki, Medic added Gold Rush/Payload mode. Pyro added Turbine. Heavy added the arenas plus more importantly Steel and Badwater Basin.

I feel like The Golden Age drifted off around the addition of King of the Hill mode. Though Arena was probably a worse mode in retrospect. (Seems like Valve agrees on that last point, they never added another Arena map after August 2009.)

Yea, you're probably right. I ditched my PS3 so this is the only way I can play it. Durante did post some overall positive impressions though:

Arbitrary resolutions are supported.

Frame delivery is very consistent (likely as a result of the great performance). So although it's 30 FPS, I find it playable.
The game is pretty interesting and unique.

Oh cool, didn't know that. Durante is usually pretty picky about PC stuff since he ends up fixing them, so if he's happy with it, it's probably solid.

It's definitely been a tough ride though. Game was supposed to be out, like, last year. You almost never see a localization company attempt to do major programming, so I can understand the struggle. Reminds me of Working Designs since they'd actually program changes into the game.

So, apparently you could reset people's password so long as you knew their account names. Why? The verification code it sent to people's email didn't have to be entered. You could leave the field blank, and it would accept the request.

Fucking hell Valve. How am I going to get my fix now? Authentication servers are getting hammered it seems. -_-
