I'm honestly a bit taken aback you'd post this, Vom.
I'm obviously being a bit cheeky.
But after 5 years of "Surely some people in the GOP will stand up and rein him in any moment now !", QAnon spreading like wildfire, Trump getting a lot of voting engagement and even more ardent turnout from registered Rs (IIRC) than last time round, you start to wonder if the elusive "sane conservative constituency" really exists. Certainly not as an active one.
I think they exist but they see their Qanon and MAGA brethren as a means to an end.
If the Republican party can cater to the Middle Class this way they don't have to worry about the pitchforks coming for them when they deregulate and cut spending.
Trump gave Republicans everything they could possibly want. 3 supreme court justices, tax cuts, deregulation, energy independence, Israel, Soleimani's head on a platter and he was even willing to pander to the evangelicals.
All they had to give up was fiscal responsibility and bipartisanship. And most of them don't have to worry about their workers revolting or unionizing against them because their workers now support the same party.
And as always they made no attempt to hide their strategy
