or Blood Stone 007.  or James Bond Blood Stone.  or James Bond 007 Blood Stone.  whatever.  It's the james bond game Bizarre was making (PGR, Blur, The Club, other games that no one played)

looks like Splinter Cell Conviction with driving sequences and without stealth

Looks good.

Bizarre is such a good dev.  The driving sequences would have been amazing.  There's sparks even in the gunfights!

So what's the development story on this.  Canned?  Or Bizarre dumped and someone else finished it?

Is Daniel Craig doing the voice? I think it looks pretty great.

Also, I wonder who Joss Stone fucked to get in on this.
It's Daniel Craig doing the voice, I think.

It doesn't look bad but honestly I think I'd have more fun rewatching a Bourne movie.  The shooting just looks like you're being guided through scripted, tile-based level design with no real need for strategy.  The only time you do some real bond shit is when you press a button to slow down time and automatically headshot three guys at once.  But UH-OH, it looks like you have to build up a meter for that stuff.

This gen a lot of shooters have been adding RPG or stealth mechanics to give you more choice and customization with how you approach a level but this game looks just doesn't do anything like that.  That might be why I haven't really liked a Bond game since Goldeneye, where avoiding alarms and memorizing level layouts tickled me in the OCDish type of way.

and the graphics kind of suck.

The only two real things that interest me about this game are that it's made by Bizarre (I heard the team that worked on The Club specifically) and interviews they cite Everything or Nothing as the game they think is the best Bond game.  I really liked Everything or Nothing and it's nice to see others that agree that it is the best Bond game rather than just a ho-hum FPS with a bond skin.

The actual gameplay video looks way too scripted and kind of boring.

EON probably is the best bond game (disregarding Goldeneye). Second place would go to Nightfire

Glad someone else remembers Nightfire. That one was really well done but almost always seemingly forgotten. It had a good variety of level types. Even the underwater driving portions were cool.

Agent under fire wasn't that bad, kind of like a generic Goldeneye. It had a pretty fun grappling hook mechanic that was fun to abuse in multiplayer matches though.

So this is the first Activision title using the James Bond license after EA didn't renew? I thought we were getting a whole new Bond, not a movie guy, but some young turk from the soap opera scene...

Technically it is the second since they made a Quantum of Solace game that was basically Call of Duty gameplay through both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace movies.  Or it could be the third if the Goldeneye remake for the Wii comes it sooner.  It is the full wholly original Bond game they are putting out.

and yeah, I am confused about what happened to that other actor.  Maybe he just does the voice.

This is the Goldeneye Wii game, not Blood Stone, but there is a video of the single player and it looks solid.

(video starts at 1:30)

I read that it is being made by Eurocom, who made Nightfire and the PS2 version of Quantum of Solace (the only good version).

Only watched a couple videos but looks great - they really seemed to nail the melee style of the Craig bond movies (i assume some of that was pre-canned, but if there's enough of them it'll still be awesome)

I'm playing Goldeneye Wii. You can use Gamecube controller, yay

You can also select a difficulty that makes it like the original. No regenerating health, and Body Armor.

Seems ok so far, since theres no shitty waggle to be found now. The music isnt as good of course. There's a radar now so you can see enemies. There's some stealth involved, you can take enemies down from behind, rather than having to chop them.

Yeah they're pretty basic.

B - reload
L - aim
R - shoot
D-Pad - change weaps, add silencer, etc.
X - crouch

The gameplay vids made it look very CoDish, and normally I wouldn't enjoy that but with Goldeneye it looks like it works really well. I love what I've seen of the level design. Shame the music isn't up to snuff, but if everything else is there, who am I to complain.

The stealth is pretty wack, it has that cruddy mechanic where they just randomly see you and you're like "uh ok"

It's ok though. Especially since you can use the Cube controller. Fuck waggle

Waggle IS better for FPS. Such a shame most of you aren't willing to adapt.  I will say having 60 FPS is extremely important for wii pointer controls. I haven't had a chance to see if Goldeneye has the same silky controls of Prime 3.

As a proud member of the PC master race, console fps with waggle is awful. Sticks are bad, but aiming's no good if the reticle isn't locked to the center of the screen.

I hate the wii or motion controls in general for fps games. I don't like that I have to constantly be holding that Wii pointer up and relative to the screen. It's not like a mouse where I can just rest my hand on top of it. It hurts after playing for a relatively short amount of time in my experience. Even if all the hd consoles get motion controls in the future far more people will always play with dual analog.

There may be one day there is a new interface for consoles that is superior to dual analog but the current incarnation of the Wii or the move for normal people ain't gonna cut it.

Touchy, imprecise aiming :yuck

Having to aim at the sides of the screen to turn or remapping controls so you turn instead of strafing with the left stick :yuck

no locked reticule :yuck

Waggle :yuck

Try again EmCee

What are you talking about? You don't need your reticule to be center with waggle controls. Aim, track, and fire.  I have an embarrassing amount of CoD wii playtime to attest to this. Keyboard and mouse may be better, but I can't adjust to wads movement for the life of me.

I still think the best would be a touch pad instead of a second stick.  Aiming in DS and iphone games feels good with fast swipes or subtle motions like a virtual trackball.

oh, and if I'm not mistaken, the 'stealth' in Goldeneye is more to give you an advantage for when the shooting starts.  Not really a stealth game and just a tactical option.  Uncharted 2 did something similar, and I think the CoD games do it too (that snow mission in MW2 as an example).  I like that and I wish more shooters would do it.

I almost paid $50 for this but I have better games only half-way eaten on my plate, so I'll wait. I might consider modding my Wii since pirating games seems like the way to go.

I just played the first mission in goldeneye. Hip firing and general looking feels great with the pointer, but the ADS and sniper scope feel wonky, I had to go into custom settings and loosen that shit up. A little sad you can't do complete button mapping, only picking presets. As it is you have to be in ADS to use the lean which means you're vision is twisted 45 degrees during lean. Enemy AI is surprisingly good, they smartly run to and use cover, and will peek around corners to not give you an easy shot. In certain situations you need to be aware if a guard is near an alarm switch and dispatch him early. Level design is a tad bit scripted but you can often choose your path and playstyle. I generally try to be stealthy and go for takedowns until they wise up, gun everyone else and then maybe do some backtracking to see if I missed anything. A guard fired upon us with a rocket launcher at one point, destroying our vehicle. Later in the level after gathering some intel, I returned to the tower and found the rocket launcher, but I didn't use it because I figured I'd have to fight a helicopter or SOMETHING. Nope. Not a fan of the qtes, but I hardly ever am a fan of those.

The single player is great so far, I'm on a boat right now rescuing hostages. There's a nice risk/reward element with the stealth stuff, but you can just go in like rambo if ya want.  Essentially, you can sneak around and subdue guards or plug them full of holes before a patrol comes by. If anyone hears you firing an unsilenced weapon, or sees you or an enemy in his death animation- reinforcements are coming.  The AI continues to impress. Leaning, peeking, diving for cover, advancing with cover, occassional flanking, blind firing, blindfiring while hauling ass around a corner. Overall this and cool things like destructible cover really elevate the game. Although there's a hilariously bad way they try to make a crowd in a nightclub. Its so corny but awesome.  I have a bad feeling the game is going to end soon though.

Multiplayer is a really mixed bag.  There's some fun to be had here, mostly shotguns on Archives (small map) but the framerate takes a hit and the result is controls aren't as smooth as I would like, although doable.  They implemented a perk system with leveling up ala CoD, which is taking FOREVER and I really hate how every shooter these days won't give me all the toys in the toybox right away. I also suspect people are using their sniper rifles like shotguns much of the time.  Spawning is instantaneous which causes these stupid trains of people shooting each other in the back on modes like Golden Gun.  Haven't had a chance to try local yet, probably around thanksgiving.

I've put in about 84 hours into the multiplayer and I'm not even halfway done grinding (lvl 30 now, I think max is 56).  What was the rationale behind such a painfully slow level up system?  I also feel sorry for the low level noobs that wind up in our games with high level players.  They limp out of there with something like 20 xp for the whole match.  Although occassionaly I'll guard a noob sniper JUST TO BE NICE.

Campaign is awesome, yes.  I thought it was gonna be a short affair, but it keeps going and giving.  This is the definitive Wii FPS with fun if slightly flawed online, splitscreen, and great sp.
