Welp, online groceries seem useless. Was like beating ticketmaster to get an order in for today delivery.

Then half the stuff needs replacement items - fine
But all the important stuck is just out of stock and I don't get it.

Great getting hamburger patties and spinach, but no buns
getting peanut butter & jelly, but no bread

-_-

Basically everything dairy, eggs, bread, distilled water, TP, paper towels seem very hard to get right now which sucks. Gonna fight the crowds at the market later or tomorrow I guess.
Get some flour, bake your own.

Lol good luck finding flour in a store right now. Haven’t seen any for weeks. I buy wheat grains and make my own flour right now.  :doge

saw an article saying NM has done the third most tests in the country per capita and we have the lowest number of positives. drive thru testing, business and school lockdowns, and the restaurant changes seem to be helping out. i clown this state a lot but i'm glad we were ahead of the curve on this, probably cause we're so poor we'd be fucked otherwise. :lol

So, in terms of exponential growth of Covid-19:

67 days - 100,000
11 days - 200,000
4 days - 300,000
2 days - 400,000

And that is just reported cases.

Get it now just a weird way to list it out lol

It was listed that way because it is the number of days it took to reach a particular number that is important. In other words it took 67 days to reach 100,000, yet only 11 days to reach 200,000. The infection rate is accelerating.

It took 78 days to reach 200,000 hence why it’s weird.

Okay it took 84 days to reach 400,000 cases. What that doesn't tell you is that the last 200,000 cases only happened in the last 6 days. ;) It took 78 days to reach 200,000 only 6 days to reach another 200,000.

Either way, at that rate we will reach 600,000 reported cases within 3 days.

Edit: Actually in the next 1.5 days.

Pretty stunning case of government incompetence over here in recent days.

The Ruby Princess cruise ship berthed in Sydney last week and about 2700 passengers got off at Circular Quay. People were asked to self-isolate and that's it. No testing, no medical/temperature checks, nothing.

More than 100 people who disembarked have since tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Agriculture officials advised that New South Wales Health had conducted a risk assessment, had rated the risk as low and that health officials would not be attending the vessel.

NSW's Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said many of the new COVID-19 cases were linked to the Ruby Princess.

I think the real turning point is if they overtake us in cases per capita.
Hopefully they managed to get things under control before then.

New polling in France show that people are more worried (87%), feel the country is not ready to face it (73%) and less than a majority feels Macron and the government is managing this well (48%). With fatalities that will only keep on increasing in hospitals and retirement homes for at least a week, I wouldn't expect this will get better for Macron. I think we can expect tons of inquiries from media and parliament at the other end of this.

Public transport in Paris to get even more curtailed starting tomorrow.

A man got a 4 months prison sentence for being controlled 8 times without the proper papers while outside.

1600 people released from prison but there's still, IIRC, 70k prisoners for a theoretical capacity of 61k.

It seems like no matter the case it would be a good idea in the US to get at least some worst-case supply chain planning going. Big box stores should be planning for limits on necessities, closing interiors of stores to the public and moving to curbside pickups or contactless deliveries only.

Pretty obvious by now that, generally speaking, the system we have now won't work in a crisis and that many people can't be trusted to take only what they need.

NM already put limits on that with the stay at home order. Surprised that's not the case in every state at this point

Quote
In order to minimize the shortage of health care supplies and other necessary goods, grocery stores and other retailers are hereby directed to limit the sale of medications, durable medical equipment, baby formula, diapers, sanitary care products, and hygiene products to three items per individual

No, it doesn't sound like that at all. It just means that Gillead can charge any price and no-one else in the US is allowed to make a cheap generic version. This "rare disease" protection is meant to allow companies to recoup their investments when developing treatments for diseases that few people are suffering from (which would otherwise be unprofitable). In this instance, the government had already paid for development (the company was given an $80 million grant by a previous administration). So in this case granting "rare disease" status is completely absurd and will only serve to make the drug super expensive in America while generating lots of profit for Gilead Sciences. It wouldn't shock me in the least if members of Trump's administration (and his clan) bought lots of Gillead stock before issuing this.

It does seem some corps are getting around the "stay at home" rules here though. Part of the order was that all call centers had to reduce in person workforce by 100% (we have a lot of call centers here) but also that hardware stores are essential so the Lowe's call center has to remain open...for everyone calling Lowe's customer service during a pandemic. :lol

So what's the TLDR on coronabux? Do I get my money or not
