Up to episode 10 of DD. Loving it even more. I personally like that things feel overlong sometimes. It lets the show breathe a bit, sometimes shows feel that they have to abide towards advert breaks rather than care about the actual drama.  Netflix shows avoid that maybe that why they sometimes feel longer than they are?

Oh and Fisk gets better and better. It's hilarious that we finally have an interesting and deadly on screen MCU villain and his not even super-powered. Well see how well on screen Ultron fares next week when the Avengers comes out to see if he measures up.

Arrow S03E19,  I like where this is going with the truth. Still doesn't really redeem all the silliness they did about people lying to set this up.

Really liked Daredevil. Haven't felt the need to marathon a show like that in a while. The fight scenes aren't better than the ones in Banshee or Spartacus though. :hitler

The Justified ending was pretty decent.  I thought it was rushed in some areas which kind of bothered me because like seasons 4-5, season 6 started off slow.  They could have probably had the final episode in two episodes and then just sped along events earlier in the season.  A really good show.  Not as good as The Wire, The Shield, or Breaking Bad but it's up there.

Daredevil has added descriptive audio narration for the blind. In the spoiler is a scene from episode 4 with the descriptive audio.

This is a major spoiler if you haven't watched episode 4 of Daredevil yet, fair warning.

Felt like they rushed the last episode of DD. Probably should have introduced the costume a couple episodes earlier, too. Still a good show, but you could tell they were just trying to wrap everything up in case there wasn't a second season.

someone else can correct me if I don't have this right but the way I heard it, the Marvel on Netflix plan is (in order) Daredevil, AKA Jessica Jones, Power Man, Iron Fist, and then The Defenders in a ~2 year span.  so a Daredevil season 2 might not happen until that's all finished.  but with how well received Daredevil is, maybe they alter the plans to fit in a second season.

Defenders is only 4-6 episodes, so I could see  Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders and DD S2 all next year if DD brings in the dough.

Yeah Defenders is supposed to be a ground level style Avengers "event" thing but given the reception of DD I wouldn't be surprised if they rework the plan they had.

Watched  the first season of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It definitely has a 30 rock vibe. It feels like a spin-off from that show. And it has a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses of 30 rock. When it was funny it was funny. I don't mind spending a few seasons with this.

Cause it's an online show? Lol.

And yeah, it gets pretty crazy. Ripping bones out of dead bodies, hands getting chopped off, suicide by impaling the head on a rusty pipe, etc. Not to mention all the headshots and stuff. Pretty fucking crazy it's technically a "Disney" show.

Well, dunno about Netflix US but Netflix Germany requires you to type in a special code if you want to watch violent stuff like Spartacus etc., that's why I asked.

And yeah, I agree - never even imagined they would go so far. TBH I like it, it's clearly something else than the movies and surprisingly it works very well.

They should have introduced it sooner, it's jarring the way it pops up in the last episode like that. I kept reading that the costume was supposed to evolve over the course of the series with Matt adding padding and armor here and there, but in actuality he's still wearing a rag on his face in episode twelve and then BIG FOREHEAD RED DEVIL HELMET in episode 13.

Yeah, we needed to see more glimpses of it being put together in the episodes between when he talks to the tailor guy and when he puts it on.

Also the last 20 mins of the last ep were kinda ehhhhhhhhh, kinda felt like they didn't really know how to end it so they went with the standard "superhero becomes how he is in the comics and beats the bad guy" route. Not bad, but I was expecting the priest and Rosario Dawson to pop up again. :(

The last scene was really cool though, nice homage to the comics.

I could never get much into Spawn or The Crow.

I mean, they're undead :yeshrug
Spawn is cool
no

The first Crow movie was so much fun. It was basically better than the comic, and a good revenge movie to boot. I was so sad about Brandon Lee though.

Spawn, in its entirety, has always seemed devoid of value. I think I was waiting to see what the creators of Marvel comics would make when left to their own devices, unfettered by the control of Marvel execs and free to explore their own creativity... and it was Spawn, a poorly written melodrama ripped from the cover of McFarlane’s Pee-Chee Folder. The movie was, astonishingly, similarly poorly executed, with crap pacing, story, art direction... everything except the music.

Actually watched the Spawn movie a couple of weeks ago with my younger brother. The CGI fire-tunnels to hell had me spending most of the playing time explaining how much better the Mortal Kombat movies are at celebrating that kind of 90s cheese.

The most surprising thing about the Spawn movie is probably how it has like 6 actors in it, who are supposed to make up the heaven and hell factions of a divine war plus a multi-national arms development company (headed by Martin Sheen with a doughnut penciled on his face)

The movie's “Hell” sequence is the one which always leaps to mind about how crap the art direction is in Spawn. The idea appears to have been “Hell is hot, so let’s use a lot of red and orange!” If there had been an ounce of competence, there should be some blue or green elements added just for contrast. The way it’s rendered just looks so washed out and horrible.

I started rewatching The Shield from season 4 a few weeks ago and am a couple episodes away from the season 7 finale. I'm getting goosebumps. It's always amazing how well this show gets to flesh out all the characters. Even ones that don't show up too often. Probably because they're all very flawed, vulnerable people that fit perfectly as a cog in the criminal justice system. I didn't think so before but showing Vic at his lowest from the pilot episode was the best thing they could do on this show.

It's going to be so fucking sweet in the next season of Daredevil when The Hand throws dozens of ninjas outchea, Zatoichi's white nonunion substitute returns after taking over Haagen-Dazs, and Madame Gao finds all 7 Dragon Balls.
