I like it.  It can take on the pro-WWE slant on occasion, but it's usually when they're talking about Ted Turner at the beginning of each show.  There are episodes dedicated entirely to WCW stuff and one on ECW too.

Sting's first match as Crow String in WCW was terrible because he didn't bother getting in shape. I REALLY hope Vince or HHH can motivate him to get into some semblance of shape. Don't fuck this up, guys.

New Japan Pro Wrestling Has Announced A U.S. TV Deal And You Should Start Getting Excited

Via youtube

AXS TV has released a trailer for their 2015 programming line up, and whoa, hey, where’d all this Okada come from? In the midst of probably more Simon Cowell shows than any one person deserves to sit through, a few New Japan Pro Wrestling are snuck in towards the very end:

AXS TV will have a 13-episode run of NJPW footage in the new year. The first episode is said to feature the 2013 Hiroshi Tanahashi-Kazuchika Okada match from the Tokyo Dome show, which, honestly, is a pretty high bar to set for wrestling television. They’re also set to run the 2013 G1 Climax tournament. All of the episodes will feature English commentary from MMA/Boxing commentator Mauro Ranallo and UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett. They’ll begin taping their commentary in December.

While the idea of running two year old shows with only one person who has only a few years of wrestling commentary experience under their belt on a former home of ROH TV sounds terrible when you say it out loud in that very specific way, New Japan’s push for more mainstream American coverage is still fantastic news for anyone on this side of the Pacific. It’s a great primer for new fans, but was also a good enough year that I’m pumped just thinking about watching it all over again.

WWE should probably just drag Ric Flair out of whatever whorehouse he's currently hanging out in and have him and Sting do a casket match so we can close out their careers already.

I mean I think Sting and Flair are better talents than anybody in the WWE EVER sans MAYBE Shawn Michaels but that shit was like 30 years ago bro. time to let the old men out.

No.  No more Flair in the ring.  Hell, Sting should be hanging it up but this is going to be a one match deal, so hopefully HHH can get something out of him.  Flair, Sting, Hogan, and all the rest...there's nothing wrong with still having them on TV, but they should be in GM/manager/non-wrestling roles, enhancing younger talent.

No No I concur. I was tongue and cheeking that post.

Sting has gotta be what? 55+ years old.

Probably needs to get Shawn Michaels out one last time to give him a proper sendoff. Triple H is probably the best actual available option.

Watched RAW last night.  First time in quite a while.  That PPV-high I got is already gone.   :lol

The rundown:

  • No Sting (expected)
  • The Authority may have been removed from power, but that didn't stop them from opening the showing and bitching about it for 15 minutes  :zzz
  • It looks like WWE is going with different GMs every week.
  • This week was Daniel Bryan!  The crowd popped HUGE for him.
  • Bryan 'punished' the Authority Survivor Series Team Members by booking them in various matches
  • Big Show was oddly missing from this segment
  • None of the shit that happened last night seemed to matter as far as feuds go
  • Cena and more importantly Ziggler were barely on the show until the main event
  • Cena talked way too much.  Ziggles didn't get a chance to say much.   :-\
  • Big Show comes out and acts all hypocritical.  Does Cena respond?  NOPE.  It's...Eric Rowan...?  Weird.
  • Wouldn't it make more sense for Rowan to team with Ambrose and feud with Wyatt and Harper?
  • Brie Bella appears to be a full-on heel now.  Yeah, that makes sense.  Get abused by your sister for a month, then happily side with her.
  • Bryan made Kane's new title "Director Of Concessions" and we get "comedy" segments with him serving food.
  • The main event was Cena/Ziggler against Rollins and...Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury.  Would say they did way better than I would have expected for two guys booked to be bumbling idiots.
  • The show ends with next week's GM revealed as...the anonymous RAW GM, via laptop.  Yes, that shit again.  WWE has already forgotten that this GM was revealed as Hornswaggle

Should you catch a replay of this show?  Nope.

I like that Erick Rowan's character is a awkward, spergy manchild now. I bet his favorite video game is Majora's Mask. I did like the line calling him "an upside-down Sheamus" too.  :lol

Also A_i_A, Flair is still around. He was in NXT (WWE developmental) as his daughter's hypeman. Haven't watched in a few weeks so that may be over now.

A lot of the stuff he brought up isn't new, such as creative stealing. Brodus Clay brought forth lots of good ideas and he was met with a similar reaction of someone stealing it. Others have complained of the same thing.

The biggest news in that interview is in regards to how incompetent WWE's medical staff is. It's like they got their medical degrees from online colleges. Clearing an elbow over the phone, how they test for concussions despite the Benoit thing, and generally not caring for their workers' health. That's all new. Before this, people thought that WWE had good medical staff and the company took care of their workers. Turns out, they don't, and it's the most damning thing in the entire interview. I'm not sure how anyone can support WWE after that interview period, especially given how shitty they are recently. There are so many good alternatives to WWE right now, that you'd have to be a masochist to keep watching.

Their medical staff is completely, in every way, indefensible. Covering up concussions, forcing major surgeries only to work again in three weeks against the most dangerous guy in the company in one of the most dangerous types of match available? It's indefensible. A multi-million dollar company should not act like this, and giving WWE a single cent seems foolish.

EDIT: Also there are not any better alternatives than the WWE wrestling wise.

Wrong. On every level.

Let's not act like most wrestlers wouldn't leave wherever their at for a shot at a decent run in the WWE in a heart beat. I'm not saying they are the best run, or even the best company. What I'm saying is almost anyone and everyone who watches/loves/lives on wrestling would probably go WWE before anything else. The ones who don't usually are those who've been burned before understandably and unsurprisingly considering of what we now know about the medical staff.

It's still completely wrong. i never brought up who wrestlers would work for. I'm talking about as a consumer and wrestling fan. There are numerous alternatives that kick WWE in the ass in terms of quality. No, they are not as big as WWE. No, that does not matter. Your argument basically says that there's no alternatives to pop music because every musician and their mother would love to play before a crowd at the Grammys. Yes, pop music is a behemoth. No, it's not the only way for a fan of music to get their fix. The same is true for wrestling.
