I read somewhere that the trick is to not play as a melee class as the magic based classes are much more fun.

Ended up buying it, gonna try it out tonight and get my awkward looking caveman mage on :rock

I'm thinking about getting it but ehhhhhhh.....I'd rather just get Divinity 2 now and Two Worlds 2 later. Choices, choices.

Edit: Oh well, screw it, I bought it. If it sucks, well it wouldn't be the first time I've wasted $15 on Steam.

I dunno if they suck.  I was just skimming posts when deciding to buy and everyone says different things  :lol

At the end of the day, who cares.  It's $15.  If it's fun for a few days you get your money worth :)

Well, steam ran out of Risen keys so if you haven't already run the game once and activated your key, you're not playing it this weekend until they get more :(

Turning off Depth of Field and using those tweaks made a nice difference. Glad I went with this and not Two Worlds 2, I can see I will enjoy this as a modern old timey WRPG. Exactly what I was looking for to play after Fallout NV

No controller support sucks though :yuck

Anybody who knows me (or wants my e-cock) want to gift me Burnout Paradise before the sale ends? Doesn't show up on the J store. Got it on PS3 but want to give it a shot in 3D. I will of course gift you back equivalent value if you let me know what you want!

my feelings exactly. I'm highly unlikely to finish the SP anyway. There's no reason to pay more than $20 for it on Steam though, given the amount of great stuff we've all got built up. At this point, the list of games I'd pay full-price for on Steam probably goes like: Half-Life 3

I've set a limit for $10 for it. But since EA games seem to never dip below $20 on Steam I'm not holding my breath.

It'll drop fast.  Already fell from $60-$30 on consoles over black friday and has been around $30-40 since.

Still was stupid of EA to keep it off steam for the first month.  Will double dip when game is $5 in a year.

Hot Pursuit is fun but not particularly impressive in any area.  As a Brit, you might want to check out F1 2010 though.  Supposedly it runs really well on PC and it should be great in 3D on your rig.

it's on my Wish List if you care to buy it for me, big spender  :-*

I'm actually not into F1 racing at all but I like most of Codemasters' stuff so have a mind to check it out in the sales. I've heard good things about it from a friend who worked on the Sony F1 game for PS3.

BTW, Fallout 3 with NMC looks aaaaaaaammmmmaaaaaaaaaazing in 3D. I was :drool ing all over the place. Good call. Haven't added the huge bumpmaps yet - might try that tonight.

Sure, when it goes on sale.  I haven't even gotten it for myself since I suck ass at F1 games.  I think F1 is great but it's just too technical for me.  $40 is still too much for a graphical showpiece (that isn't DX11  :P ).

And yeah, the NMC texture pack is amazing.  I added everything, including the huge bumpmaps and it makes Fallout 3 look like one of the best looking games this gen.   It doesn't seem to have a big impact on performance either.  I just have to figure out how to make Fallout 3 stop crashing randomly.  It got stable all of a sudden but I'm not even sure what happened.

Did you try that large memory address enabler (or whatever) that the NMC guy recommended? I have it downloaded but it seems like a bit of a PITA to install. Might give it a go tonight.

Yeah, it's a 3D showcase too. NVidia rates it 'Excellent' and they're right. I don't think I can go back and play it on 360 now.

Just kidding about buying it for me, of course. I'm not hurtin' :tophat

i'm willing to bite at 30. I mostly want to be able to take it online to get the Autolog stuff going. From what I saw when I played the PS3 version, Autolog is really awesome and not having it really hurts the game.

I just tried it.  I'm not sure if it'd help but I'm pretty sure now that my previous crashes were memory related.  It's not surprising since those textures are so huge.

Yesterday, I noticed that the game only crashed when I was outdoors and using 32X AA/16 AF.  I had no crashes after I bump things back to standard 4Xaa and 4XAF.

I'm gonna try to see if your fix would let me bump the AA back up again 'cause the game looks so damn pretty.

is there a similar hi-res pack for New Vegas yet?

There are some mods already on newvegasnexus.com but probably nothing yet at the level of the top FO3 mods.

I did it too, haven't had any trouble yet. It's just a matter of patching the .exe if you have Win7 64bit, it seems. No hassle at all. I installed the huge bump pack as well. It is  :hump

Last night my daughter came into my room just as I got outside the Vault for the first time. She saw me wearing the NVidia glasses and had to try them on. Her little face when she looked at the screen in 3D was something to behold. She was like 'Daddy go over THERE! WHOOOOOAAAAA now go THERE WHOOOOAAAA'

and then a mutant dog attacked us and I hate to beat it to a bloody pulp with a baseball bat  :'( That was the end of her adventures in Fallout
