big picture mode keeps activating on its own  :maf

i'm in the steam client beta (and I leave my 360 pad plugged in), so i wonder if it has anything to do with that.
Nope, happened to me too. Had to switch back to the non-beta. Those dialogue box errors were getting annoying anyway.

Alan Wake for only $1 (preferably more since the game is absolutely awesome)

It's not very clear on it, so you pay $1 and you get both for Steam?

yes, the Humble store gives you steam keys and DRM free versions.

typically it's $1 or higher for steam keys.  'anything' for drm free versions.

It's the worst 3d action game this generation and probably last generation too.  The combat is awful, the enemies are grindy, the framerate SUCKS on consoles, there's these Shadow of the Colossus bosses that go on forever and are worthless, the game is like like 20+ hours long of repetition, there's QTE crap everywhere and I don't even remember what else but it was bad bad bad.  Oh yeah, bad camera and platforming too.

I have a pretty high tolerance for bad when it's franchises I like and pretty graphics (and this game has REALLY NICE GRAPHICS), but I dropped the game about 10-12 hours in because it was just such an extreme chore to play and I didn't feel like spending another 6-10 hours of no-fun that could have been spent on better games.

Basically Mercury Steam has no idea what makes action games fun.

Hmm.. sounds pretty janky, thanks for your comment. Might give it a 'test drive' on PC before committing on Steam. Framerate shouldn't be an issue unless they pull a Dark Souls and lock it at 30.

30 would be an improvement :lol

The console versions were around 20-24fps constantly.  At 60fps on PC I'm sure it'll be a better game, but even smoother combat won't change how dull the levels are and how long the game is.

The game has its fans for some warped reason.  Probably has something to do with Kojima fans since they published it.

I like Kojima, but the game has nothing to do with him.  Sure there are a lot of cutscenes, but he'd never make gameplay as shoddy as what's in the game.

You already missed the "better deal" when Steam accidentally made it ~$2.50 in Brazil for about an hour.  :P Some dude on GAF bought a few dozen and was reselling them, but they're all gone now.

Steam just won't work on my mac.   "Needs to be online to update but was set to offline mode" some kafka level shit.  then it says "Failed to load syslib.dll" or something.

I'm on mountain lion, can't find a fix other than updating the OS. Deleting + redownloading doesn't work...weird!

Right now, regular cards go for .30€ to .40€. That'll go lower as more and more people join the beta and hit rock bottom once all of Steam is generating cards. Foils are worth a lot more, but they will crash as well. If they ever drop to TF2 crate levels it might be worth to buy cards and craft badges to get coupons.

So far I made 14.64€, mostly from selling cards. Enough for one or two games once the summer sale starts, so it was worth it. Don't buy games just to get their cards though, I made that mistake with Fairie Solitaire. It's a neat little time waster, but I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I used the credit I had accumulated thus far to buy it, so it doesn't sting much (only lost 10c in the end).

How much?

less than a dollar so it wasn't much (due to being a common card).

I'm just surprised it sold and how quickly it happened (i don't even think 10 minutes passed)
