Kinda random, but okay. Not sure the 10th Anniversary of Sudeki was anything that anyone was gearing up to celebrate, but there it is. It's got cards, so I guess that's something.

Unfortunately, the 10th anniversary of the release of Drake of the 99 Dragons came and went with minimal fanfare. :'(

Witcher 2 is really cheap on Steam. Should I get the first game also? Or should I pass on both and wait for the next game later this year?

At least play Witcher 2. Witcher 1 has completely different combat that's not as fun and you can easily skip it. But Witcher 2 shouldn't be missed.

So, I got a 25% off coupon for Broken Age. Worth picking up at this price or should I wait for a proper sale?

Not exactly jumping at the chance to buy a half completed game but I guess I'll pretend they're mimicking modern day Telltale where they take half a year to put out an episode.

it's not a long game (between 2 and 3 hours) and it ends in a "wait for part 2" cliffhanger... what there is isn't particulary well done in regard of puzzle but it's decent from a art/sassy jokes perspective...

Thanks for the post, magus. Broken Age really does sound like modern Telltale game: not much in terms of puzzles but the writing and experience is good.

Deus Ex The Fall (the iOS game) seems like it'll be ported to PC.

I played an hour or so on my iphone and it's pretty fun for a simplified human revolution.

PSA: Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army is 75% off on Steam this weekend! Only $6.24 for the first and second game. If you haven't seen gameplay of this series yet, check it out.

It has probably the most realistic bullet mechanics of any game I've played, taking into consideration wind speed, distance, bullet drop, range-finding, elevation, etc. Pretty intense stuff. It also has X-Ray views of skeletons/muscles/organs as you're shooting them.

LEARN ABOUT HUMAN (zombie) ANATOMY, NEWTON'S LAWS, PHYSICS, AND BALLISTICS WHILE YOU SHOOT MANS.

Someone give me Yawhg impressions PLEASE

it's artsy as fuck, a monster is going to come in 6 week so each week you pick a location to visit between 8 different one and each location increase your stat so for example if you go dancing your charm increase but if you go hunting your strenght increase instead... after getting your stat increase an event happens and you have to pick between one of two choice's (there's a surprising amount of event involving leeches) which might further increase or decrease your stat, some event also ends in one turn to continue in another (for example in one event you shoo away a bard only to find he killed himself after being shooed a bunch of turns later) because consequence are artsy

after 6 turn pass the yawhg arrive and the town is destroyed, then you pick a role for each of the character you played with like "leader" or "woodcutter" and depending on your stat and role picked it gives you an epilogue about how your character survived the disaster or how they died horribly to post-apocalypse madness

a whole game takes like 10 minute's to play

I bought Broken Age finally thanks to that 33% off sale. Game is pretty good and quite wacky but it's pretty standard adventure game bullshit. You'd think with all that money they'd do something a bit more innovative?

I'm very early on so maybe the dual character stuff adds an interesting gameplay wrinkle. It's just an ADD simulator for me right now since I'm constantly swapping between the two characters.

I get that Kickstarter is just nostalgia fodder funding but I expected more out Double Fine, I guess. Even Telltale's games are more forward thinking and they put shit out on time* and on budget.

* Unless it's Wolf Among Us! Nearly 4 months for a new episode, loool.

He's not joking. That was literally the intention. From the Kickstarter page:
Quote
Over a six-to-eight month period, a small team under Tim Schafer's supervision will develop Double Fine's next game, a classic point-and-click adventure.

The given time-frame is just funny in retrospect. Schafer gonna Schafer.

Ohhh ok. I never followed the Kickstarter. I just saw all the news articles about how amazingly well funded it was and just assumed it was Double Fine's next big adventure game. Thanks for clarifying since that puts me in a completely different mindset. With that said being able to swap characters is really neat then. Still "classic" adventure gaming but it adds a neat spin.

Glad I bought it!
