- Jus In Bello: Agent Henricksen and the Assault on Precinct Thirteen episode was quite good, but I was sad to see the episode end by UNDOING everything they'd worked to achieve for a little throwaway on Lilith. It was like tacking the beginning of Alien3 to the end of Aliens.
- Long Distance Call - a pointless episode to put as the 2nd-to-last episode of the series, and the Crocotta was weirdly omniscient through technology; aside from a couple of "my time is running out" lines from Dean, this MOTW could have worked anywhere, and been just as useless.
- Time is on My Side: Doc Benton, the self-rejuvenating Frankenstein doctor (Billy Drago, yay!) as a solution to Dean's problem makes NO SENSE; it wasn't that "Dean will eventually die," it was that he will be killed by relentless Hell Hounds. Benton's immortality is based on organ replacement -- I guess they implied that you could utterly wreck Benton and he still wouldn't die, per se, but it wasn't well-conveyed to the audience.
- In the end, Bela was a wasted opportunity, which I put down to a weak Head Writer. Sure, she had burned a number of bridges, then blew up the bridge's ashes, and then salted the ashes... but she was a good character as a villainous version of Lara Croft, relic hunter. After all the build-up, having her be another crossroads-mortgaged soul cheapened her character, if only for giving her a completely bum-rushed exit. I was trying to figure out where else I'd seen her, turns out she's Maggie on TWD.
- Stolen Colt remaining stolen - WAT? WAT? They couldn't decide what to do with the gun, I guess: IT'S GOT FOUR BULLETS ONLY. That's pretty great; hell, that's the kind of artifact DMs -love- to give their player characters. It increases ANGUISH over using a single bullet. OKAY, BUT RUBY CAN MAKE IT WORK AGAIN. Wait, what? WE HAVE MOAR AMMO. Okay, okay, so now you can perma-kill all these things, and end any character... BELA STOLE IT, NO GUN AGAIN. Okay, so she's going to use it to kill the Hell Hounds, as Dean was thinking? NO, SHE SOLD IT TO SOME GUY. But her contract's up; why would she want money? OH, BUT NOW SHE'S TRYING TO BETRAY THE BOYS AGAIN; SHE SHOULD DIE, RIGHT? Well, yeah, but. SHE'S DEAD. COLT'S GONE. HAPPY NOW? ...No.
- final episode was a roller-coaster ride, and a lot of fun, with a surprisingly dark ending.
I'm starting Season 4 today.
