Anyone else here watch Orphan Black? I just binge watched the first season in two days. Can't wait for the second to start.

Yeah. I liked the first season, but I have an uneasy feeling. There's so much potential to just go off the tracks into batshit-loonyville. As long as s2 keeps things moving while still staying somewhat grounded it should be pretty exciting.

Marathoned all of Rick and Morty

I love it, It's awesome and I want more. This show blends Adult Swim humor and visuals with actual storytelling and memorable characters. Watching the world grow with each episode and knowing that there are actual overarching consequences to the events of an episode is fucking great. That't not really something you see in many of adult swim comedies. The music is great as well!

Yup, it's hard to talk about Rick and Morty without coming across like an overbearing a-hole, but it really is the best comedy of the past few years. full stop.

I still wouldn't say it's a show that relies on callbacks, but it's great at calling up random easter eggs that draw meaning from previous episodes. One's that at the time just felt like random shenanigans that were just there to make you chuckle.

Huh. I caught one episode, (where the kid has a sex robot that turns out to be a reproduction machine) and didn't think it was all that great. All the characters seemed written super shallow. Maybe I should try from episode 1.

Venture Bros is definitely on a whole different level than say ATHF or something like that if that's what you're thinking.

I didn't think anyone on this board would need to be told about the Venture Brothers.

Definitely one of those shows that takes a while to get its footing.  The last few episodes of the first season are good, and watching the second season as it came out is one of my favorite TV-viewing experiences of all time.  A really fun and oddly ambitious show, and pretty high production values for something that's a two-man labor of love.

I love Rick and Morty. And the adult swim thing is a misnomer. I'm generally not a fan of what you would call "Adult Swim" humour.

That just happens to be the network its on.

Last Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was good.  It feels like they were stalling for half a season just to do the CA2 cross over event stuff.  At least it is interesting now.

The first episode of the fifth season of Justified was great.  The biggest downside was the retconning that went on with the Crowes but since I'm not a canon obsessed nerd, who gives a shit.  Tramp stamps, bare chick asses, and people getting their shit ruined, a great start to hopefully a great season :rock

Just watched the season finale.  Best season of the show yet.  The only issue I had with the season was that:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ava didn't get shanked in the prison.  Seemed like a lot of buildup over what turned out to be nothing.

They're setting the sixth/final season up well.  Can't wait!

Hulk wouldn't work since presumably Banner is off in a jungle isolating himself.

Thor's smanging Natalie Portman in alien norse heaven.

Iron Man isn't Iron Man as of IM3.

Black Widow plays a huge role in the movie.

The only question mark is Hawkeye. Not even a throwaway line as to what he's up to.

Because if Iron Man or Thor just showed up and one-shotted the Winter Soldier, there wouldn't be a movie?

Obviously, what I was asking is how they explain that away

Why do they need to though, it makes heros look weak.

Captain America:  I got this shit
Fury:  Well how about we just give Iron Man a ring, just to see...hmmm busy
Captain America: Just tell me what I need to do.
Fury:  THOR!  CAN YOU HEAR ME UP THERE!...well shit
Captain America: ....
Black Widow: You know Banner is on some new meds, maybe...

The good Adult Swim shows are usually only good for 3 seasons max.  Once you dry up that well of wacky, zany humor, you either have to recycle or crank the wackiness up to 11, which usually fails.  Most Adult Swim shows aren't even good for one episode.

It explains why Archer started falling apart in Season 3 since it's pretty much an Adult Swim show.

You know, for a guy who's supposed to be supersmart the PiedPiper kid didn't seem to realize that $200,000 for 5% is probably a better deal than $300,000 for 10%. Since he already has what I would assume is the hard part of the software created and his friends are seemingly willing to work for stock options.

Erlich seemed to understand the longer term value of holding 10%.

Honestly the kid was a dope for not taking the $10 mil. That's like, $9 mil for himself for not even doing a "startup." Just the algorithm he wrote himself, basically. I'd take that $9 mil and reinvest it in something else and get even richer.

My opinion on it is... His intelligence may be geared toward one thing. Maybe math aint his thang. Idk. lol   And the not tain the money. For some people it's not all about the money. If I had the chance to get a lil cash, and retain control. Why the fuck would that not be the best bet. Especially since you know it's a hot product.

It's a hot product because 99% of it is speculation.

Once he starts putting a team together and reality sets in, both for them and investors, the asking price is going to go down. In most cases, as soon as a product materializes the valuation tanks. He had a 100% chance to get $10 mil for no work but decided it was better to put a lot of work into trying chase after the 5% chance he could make out better than that. Someone who was actually good at math would realize those odds.

For me, it's a no brainer. It's the difference between being handed a gold bar on a silver platter and climbing up a mountain for a lottery ticket.

Some people actually want to start a company for the sake of starting a company, Vestal.

Who's this Vestal person?

And the show didn't do a great job of portraying him as that kind of person, if that was indeed the case.

What relatively new shows do you like?

What time span?  Wire and GoT are pretty much the only big prestige shows that I don't really like.  Also, I should say I didn't hate the Wire, but I never really felt an urge to go back to it.  I guess I'm not too keen on Mad Men, either, but the period piece aspect kept me going for 2 seasons.  I really hate Don Draper.
