FX has become the best channel other than HBO (and I think that's even debatable, but I haven't watched everything currently on HBO)

Archer
Louie
The League
Justified
Sons of Anarchy (although S3 was a bit weak)

You don't hear a lot of people talking about The League which is like one of the most perfect bro (using that positively) shows ever

From season 1

does anyone else think NTSF:SD:SUV is kind of bad?  None of the jokes really land.  Maybe it's hard for me to see it on it's own terms while Childrens Hospital continues to be so amazing.  the creepy paramedic episode was the best episode yet.

Yep. I love Childrens Hospital (and it brought me a Party Down reunion! Can't hate that) but NTSF is awful. It has a pretty good cast and some great guest stars but the show falls flat on its face most of the time. It should have just stayed as a parody commercial.

I hate to double post, but I finished up Justified season 2. Goddamn, those last couple of episodes were fucking incredible. Give the actress who plays Mags an Emmy, she was such a fantastic villain. This show :bow

I assumed at the end of Season 1 we'd be hearing more from los Miami cubanos, particularly the escaped muchacha with Boyd on her tail. I didn't expect it to resolve in the first five minutes of the first episode. :lol

This first episode of season 2, it felt like a pilot in some ways. I mean, they spent 12 minutes wrapping up everything from Season 1, and then went on a tear trying to introduce as many new persons-of-interest as possible before the end of the show. The girl playing Loretta is really good; I'll be surprised if she doesn't go on and do movies after this.

so what are some good shows on Netflix streaming, now that i got it. Every damn thing I search for is not available.

pick and choose according to your tastes osrry if the descriptions aren't the best, I'm fairly drunk right now. bold means highly suggested.

Mad Men - if you want a dense, dense character study television. for my money, it's the best show currently on tv
Spartacus - if you want blood and tits and ROAR and cheeseburger cock, watch blood and sand first. Gods of the Arena is a prequel.
Star Trek (original, TNG, Voyager, DS9, Enterprise) - for awesome space opera
Battlestar Galactica 2004 - if you want more great space opera
Battlestar Galactica original - if you want MORE great space opera
Friday Night Lights - great sports drama
Psych - A great sleuth tv series. Watch if you're into detective work.
Dexter - A serial killer kills shit. No one knows he kills. This is his story.
Twlight Zone - if you have any taste at all
Twin Peaks - if you want a badass drama/mystery helmed by none other than david lynch
Samurai Champloo - if you want a high flying, kung pow kicking, samurai anime with hip hop inspiration, slick animation and good music
Married with Children - NOSTALGIA also one of the greatest sit coms ever
Pushing Daisies - if you want a unique comedy with a dark sense of humor. it's about this dude who has the ability to bring things from the dead, but at the expense of taking away someone else's life.
Ugly Betty - ARRIBA ARRIBA TACOS AND BURRITOS! If you want a fun show that has a funny take on the magazine/fashion industry with a colorful cast and Grim Fandango's Manny Calavera playing as the main character's father
X-Files - NOSTALGIA! if you want...well, nostalgia
Prison Break - if you want to watch a prison break and action and drama
Jericho - takes place after a nuclear blast shuts a town off from the rest of the world, great tv, underrated
24 - JACK BAUER
Louie - the best stand up comedian today has his own show. Owns.
Luther - Stringer Bell stars in a detective story! If you haven't noticed I really like mysteries.
Lie To Me - one of the better crime dramas on tv right now
Doctor Who - if you have NEVER watched Doctor Who this is a good place. It starts from the 2005 reboot. 6 seasons, 13 eps per season, all awesome.
Torchwood - Doctor Who spin off show. Great.
Eureka - Dude finds out that every single person in town is secretly a scientist working in a research facility. weird but fun.
Switched At Birth - Name is all you need to know. Two women find out they were switched at birth. Drama ensues!
Sherlock - recent television series adaptation of the classic character and his tales. owns.
South Park - like, almost every season. owns.
Jersey Shore - this shit is fucking hilarious
Parks and Recreation - for my money, this is one of the best comedies on tv. underrated and highly suggested. catch up for the new season.
30 Rock - Great comedy show, a bit uneven, but enough time to catch up for the new season!
The League - Great comedy show about a fantasy football league on the aforementioned (on this page?) FX. Owns. And I don't even play fantasy football.
Archer - Another great FX show, this time a cartoon. Fucking hilarious, highly suggested.
Party Down - Party. Hard.
BUFFY the Vampire Slayer - Hello, my name is Himuro and I'm a Joss Whedonaholic.
Trailer Park Boys - :rofl

Bonus:

young adventures of indiana jones :hyper
the a-team :hyper
Xena :hyper
Hercules :hyper
my so called life :hyper
futurama :hyper
Home Movies :hyper
king of the hill :hyper
beavis and butthead :hyper
rocko's modern life :hyper
ren and stimpy :hyper

As you can see my tastes skew towards drama but there's some solid comedy on there. No Simpsons though. :(

Netflix tv selection is very diverse and is the main thing that has me coming back constantly.

S5 of The Sopranos continues to be solid. Although one of my problems with it in general is that there doesn't seem to be any type of "slow burn" effect for sub plots - they simply disappear after a hasty act of violence, then re-appear a few episodes later

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I just saw the ep where Tony realizes his cousin killed one of Johnny Sack's men, thus causing another panic attack. Meanwhile his sister has anger issues of her own, but goes into anger therapy which works for her. Then at Sunday dinner Tony sees she's changed, seems to be thinking it might work for him...only to slowly become so resentful of his own weaknesses that he antagonizes her until she blows up. He's a complete asshole pos lol

I guess the hasty violence can somewhat be defended when you consider just how fucked nearly everyone in the show is, mentally. These guys are all weak, and there insecurities aren't buried far below the outer tough guy, ball breaking persona they all portray. They're all one second away from committing violence.

It's hardly like Heroes, cause everyones powers... suck. It's like a complete riff on it, yet somehow having this "serious" thread going on. Almost done with Season 1 of The Shield.

Best thing about this show is that EVERY character is good. At least so far, it doesn't have those characters who just suck, which was a problem I had with Dexter and The Wire.

I retract my statement about The Wire having shitty characters. I certainly shouldn't have lumped it together with Dexter, where half of the characters suck.
