I never thought the Toyota War would look like advanced technology. What has Russia been doing the last thirty years?

Military guy returns with $5 adibas tracksuit, keeps the change.

I completely missed this.

Obligatory Friedman

Quote
During the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, Friedman wrote the following in The New York Times on April 23, 1999: "Like it or not, we are at war with the Serbian nation (the Serbs certainly think so), and the stakes have to be very clear: Every week you ravage Kosovo is another decade we will set your country back by pulverizing you. You want 1950? We can do 1950. You want 1389? We can do 1389 too." Friedman urged the US to destroy "in Belgrade: every power grid, water pipe, bridge [and] road", annex Albania and Macedonia as "U.S. protectorates", "occupy the Balkans for years," and "[g]ive war a chance."

"Be advised, these are weak, tribalized states that can fall apart in our hands. Albania is non-country country. It is a country where police estimate that more than half the cars on the road were stolen from somewhere else in Europe, where everyone has a gun at home and where just two years ago the whole banking system was based on pyramid schemes and three-card monte."

at this rate I'm worried they will cancel the war and go home, leaving an entire generation thinking Russia is a military laughingstock, as they quietly modernize and become a force to be reckoned with

Transcript of the call that the Ukrainians intercepted. The Russian encrypted communications rely on 3G apparently and they well, blew up all the 3G towers.

I went out with a Russian girl a while back, we went to Friendly's for some ice cream... it was weird since her mother kept calling her the whole time on the date to check up on her.

I keep wanting to ask my Russian coworkers what their thoughts are but last time I went out drinking with them out there they started talking politics and… yikes. So I think not.

Trump was reading someone else's prediction there. The dude couldn't even be bothered to read his daily security briefs, let alone do a deep dive on Eastern European energy strategy.

Theyre going to market this as for Ukraine but its probably because they cant source the ingredients they need due to sanctions and the collapsing rubble.

Ukraine is a practice run.

Has to be a bluff, otherwise, I don't see how Putin doesn't get walked out of a 6th story window after a few weeks.  Also, assume that it only applies to Ukrainian-aligned countries.

Ukraine getting dem migs  8)

Here's how it works
- Poland trades old jets with 'newer' US jets (probably F16's)
- Polish jets get a paint and maintenance job at Rammstein (US airbase in Germany)
- Ukraine pilots come to pick up Polish jets

Now the question is, will Putin accept this or will he bomb the US airbase in Germany.

the difference is that trump could be rid of with an election, that isn't possible with putin

Meanwhile China is planning a military disaster of their own

Imagine the invasion of Ukraine but the trucks need to first cross on boats and are attacked by 400 aircraft and that's before the US and Japan help out.

Losing a few expendable tank crews and tanks is one thing, having a whole 64km column of supply trucks lit up like a bonfire is another.

Also, losing a few tanks costs a bit, losing a few aircraft costs a bit more than a bit.
