Space Dandy is probably the closet thing we'll get from here on that's basically Heavy Metal in animated form. That Fincher movie just ain't gonna happen. :tocry

Speaking of awesome space anime, Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is money as fuck.

I just watched Episode 6, and so far this show is awesome.

Beyond the Boundary had a really good first four episodes. The guy and girl had good chemistry, it was a nice short arc, good action, bland but not terrible setting, reveals were made, sacrifices happened, and an emotional embrace ended a rampage :heart Not bad for a show's opening :-[

Then episode 5 just goes off a cliff and amps up the pervy elements of the show ten fold. And then episode 6 just gets dumber and dumber until... a dance battle :o I guess I'm back on board

Just finished Attack On Titan and now I want to know where the manga starts off as the anime ends. I can't live without my girl Mikasa kicking ass.

EDIT: Also, any news on it being continued as an anime any time soon?

Start at around 33 or 34.

The manga isn't done yet, but I don't think there is enough content for more anime yet. They'll probably wait until it is almost done

They're not going to make a new season until they've got at least 13 episodes worth of content.

But if they were to hypothetically make those episodes, they would be great episodes

shin sekai yori is really cool and it kinda reminds me of haibane renmei in that there is some sort of big mystery... a bit of symbolism, somewhat similiar theme too when you think about it

but i kinda wish it was better paced... there are some episodes that are just exposition and other where nothing interessing happen except for the last 10 minutes,it's even more annoying when they ends the episode with a cliffhanger... "maybe if you guys didn't waste all that time walking around and talking we could have avoided this cliffhanger" is what i often end up thinking

The anime's really good, very accessible and not much that would embarrass delicate sensibilities other than people getting chewed on by giant naked people.

i wanted to get a break from shin sekai yori after in the last episode i watched literaly NOTHING happened so since the reason i was watching it is because this anime blog suggested is as the "best 2013 story" i picked the "best 2013 comedy"

which was this thing here

the plot is about this guy who has to spread anime in your generic fantasy world which i tought was a pretty funny premise but i watched the first two episode and there was like 10% amount of anime parodies and 90% of "master-sama :uguu" so i'm not sure what i'm supposed to see here

Samurai Flamenco - that gorilla :o

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I knew something was coming because of this thread, but still, quite the reveal. Although I'm surprised how little the show's tone changed. I figured it would get more serious after the gorilla killed those people but it didn't really. If anything the show looks like it will get even more lighthearted

no i didn't :expert is the former good?
It's a pretty quick read and it's not bad. It some surprisingly nice military details in it and some nice action scenes.

The writing in Space Dandy continues to be terrible, but at least this time the episode had a modicum of structure. The direction and animation really made it. The Ramen shop section at the end is how the show should have been: a show about interesting aliens and their stories, rather than random ADHD bullshit. I like Meow and his Space Twitter, but I don't think I can stomach Dandy for 26 episodes. Episode 1 was a miss top to bottom, episode 2 is a hit. Still going to give it three more episodes, and if it doesn't hint at any substance as seen in with the Ramen shop owner, I'm dropping it.

Just watched Space Dandy and Kill la Kill back to back.  Both were great and I can't believe there's more than one currently running anime show that I actually like, that hasn't happened since the early 00s.

Knowing Watanabe, the tone for Space Dandy could change directions at the drop of a hat and I kind of like having no idea where it's going to go next episode.  Bebop was pretty light hearted for its first few episodes as well before its multiple tonal shifts.  I'm guessing Dandy will get into some meatier multi-episode arc soon, most likely involving Scarlet who I'm guessing will become a crew member.  That's when we'll see more to Dandy who I refuse to believe is as one-dimensional as some more reactionary people are complaining about.

And yeah, at the end of the first episode it just about got me for a second.  I actually thought for a second that this whole thing was some elaborate troll job and that really was the end of the series and that had me laughing quite a lot up until the teaser for the next episode, and then I laughed some more.

See each character you meet in every new Bebop ep as a means to help flesh the universe that Bebop creates. Episodic story telling isn't for everyone. But it has a part to play in a type of storytelling that Bebop is very good at: creating an in universe with a sense of character and making you give a shit. To be fair, you're probably on Toys in the Attic. Watch out for Jupiter Jazz which may be more your style.
