It's wasn't bad. Some really cool concepts. Concepts they did nothing with. But still. I hope they do another season.

Also watched No Game no Life.

I honestly don't know what's going on in Gundam Reconguista, but it's such a fun show to watch. Mech designs are cool, always liked the E7 character style, everything is colorful, battles seem to happen just because, it's mostly lighthearted, etc. I just can't keep track of all the new terms they've introduced and the goals of every faction. Oh well.

Been watching this, GBF: Try, Aldnoah Zero, and Cross Ange weekly. I can't remember the last time I had this many mech shows to watch at once.

I must thank lyte edge and beezy for bringing up Cross Ange, I'm up to episode 9 and I'm really enjoying it. I knew about before but so many shows start every season. It's funny that episode 8 which I thought was just gonna be fanservice ep actually had plot progression in it :lol.

and yeah parasyte is good stuff awesome-o.

Finished Gurren Lagann.  The final arc with the campaign into Anti Spiral space and the final battle were incredible. I didn't like what they did with Nia though.

Also, why does Yoko do everything in a bra and booty shorts. Gratuitous fan service.

I started on Parasyte, which is phenomenal so far (6 episodes in).

Was that the beach episode?  I like how Ange was embarrassed to be wearing a modest bikini but then wears a much skimpier pilot suit.   :lol  Anyway, just wait until the big plot twists start happening and shit really ramps up!

I'm all caught up on Parasyte, at least what's available on Crunchyroll. So far, this is one of the best shows ever. It's also become very Resident Evil-esque (games, not movies) over the last 10 episodes or so. The concept is actually a lot like Mikami's original concept for RE4, where Leon would gain superpowers as a result of partial infection by some new umbrella virus.

Side note: the way Migi says "Shinichi" cracks me up every time he says it.

Parasyte is so good. I'm bummed that the latest episode ended on a cliffhanger and now I gotta wait until next week to see what happens.

http://www.animemaru.com/new-episode-of-law-and-order-svu-focuses-on-otaku-culture/

Quote
The most recent episode of the NBC crime drama Law and Order: Special Victims Unit has touched off intense discussion in the anime community. The episode, titled “Loliconvict”, featured detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Tutuola (Ice-T) pursuing an illicit doujinshi ring. The episode takes the detectives to an anime convention where they attend a boring panel discussion on the topic “what the hell is moe, anyway?”, and to several basements packed to the rafters with idol figures and dakimakura.

Throughout the episode, the agents crack down on otaku and the recent  “moe” phenomenon, hinted to be synonymous with child pornography. Otaku, the episode explains, are dangerous reclusive criminals who peddle explicit cartoons. Agent Tutuola apprehends one otaku early in the episode and uncovers his harem of wives (known as “waifu”) before remarking that the man’s waifu were “shit.”

While many members of the anime community criticized the episode for inaccurately portraying anime fans as sexually deviant misogynist polygamist socially inept criminal weirdos, the writing staff insists that the episode was carefully researched.

“Our writers spent hours poring over Anitwitter, /a/, and several major anime websites in order to make the episode as believable as possible,” episode director Warren Leight told Anime Maru.

“In one scene, Detective Tutuola says that he read on ANN that Kirino was, in fact, best OreImo. That’s actually something we really saw on that website. See what I mean? We are committed to being authentic.”

 :uguu

They should really do this. I want to know Ice-T's favorite waifu.

i just did this exact same thing:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=992426

watching eva and skipping the last two eps.

WHO ARE YOU

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE

I AM TERRIBLE INSIDE

YOU'RE WRONG

I AM AFRAID AND JUST WANT TO BE ALONE

I HATE EVERYONE BUT MOST OF ALL MYSELF

ok we get it, the production ran out of money somehow, god fuck offffff  :lol

I remember End of Evangelion being a good make up for it though, gonna watch that soon. haven't seen it in forever...all i remember is "how disgusting"

I noticed the recap episodes/reused footage in the series a lot more on this watch, but I think I appreciated the show more than I did the first time.  particularly after the whole moe/uguu boom.  I'll take pseudo-deep existential crisis grimdark stuff over that.

Eva 25-26 is a case study in a production going off the rails, whether because of budget or lack of clear vision or eccentric talents not being properly reigned in, and should be treated as such.

We've been over this before-- The Major got dat ROBOTO BODY and you'll notice that only people with prosthetic bodies or humanoid robots will look 'perfect' and dress like that.

There's like three minutes of fan service out of 26 20-something minute episodes.  It's really that much of a turn-off to you?  Give me a break.

The most recent Parasyte was nuts. Who is this Tyrant dude tanking shotgun blasts?

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Gotou/Miki. He's the parasyte that Shinichi fought in an earlier episode and ended up just having to run away from, because he's actually five parasytes spliced together. Remember, it's the human part of the parasyte that's weak, hence why the human heart is being targeted by the SWAT guys with their auto-shotguns. But Gotou/Miki has very little human parts left, or maybe none at all, and is thus far more difficult to injure.

I thought they were two different guys. The guy Shinichi fought always had a goofy grin, while this dude looked older and much more serious. There are arty least 2 super parasites at this point, no?

spoiler (click to show/hide)
They're two personalities in the same body. Shinichi fought the Miki personality, who controlled 3 of the 5 parasytes [while the other two were asleep]. Right now, it's Gotou in control, with [presumably] all five parasytes awake.

Aren't the people complaining there about "white people writing about another culture" the same people who get up in arms about them [i.e. white people] not having enough diversity in their works? Really, though, if people only wrote about things they'd directly experienced with characters that were solely based on themselves, the creative world would be a far duller place.

I kind of want to give the TV show a rewatch too (despite that half of it is recycled animation). I really didn't feel I properly understood a whole bunch of things the first time around, like the Miki/Kozue and Juri/Shiori relationships or the whole Mikage story or or or, plus it seems like it could be interesting to watch the first half of the series in light of the revelations near the end.

you know, while i was actually watching utena it was mostly just some moderately interesting low-budget cartoon show to me, but now that it's had some time to slosh around in my subconscious i think it is starting to seriously have a profound effect on me. like, i was just thinking about the relationships among a few of my friends and my brain started to spontaneously generate a bunch of weird symbolic imagery - derived from the show's motifs of flowers and cars and such but given an original adaptation to my friends' situation - and serve it up to my mental visual space. what is happening to me O_O
