Interested in Inuyashiki.  Looks like some crazy cyborg shit.  Also Shokugeki No Souma is returning!

Not much else but we'll see.

Inuyashiki is about an old man who gets turned into an old man robot by aliens [or something], if that's not something you can get excited about then GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS THREAD.

Was there a point to Inuyashi? I would watch an episode from time to time when it was on Adult Swim, and I swear nothing ever happened in any of the episodes I watched.

InuYasha is the only heavily-serialized anime I've ever actually liked, and it's hard for me to describe why.

As for the story, they brought it back for 26 episodes in 2009 to finish off the rest of the manga content... but ironically it actually moved way, way too fast. :lol

And a SAO3 and a GGO spinoff anime are coming. The SAO movie was good.

I'm a little late, but 15 episodes in and I'm enjoying Iron Blooded Orphans. Sure season 1 of Gundam 00 was good and season 2 of Iron could easily be terrible. Still, it seems to be a solidly written and realized show.

Food Wars S3, started today.

Started watching it and was wondering where some of the footage from prior to the season came from.  Went back and checked and confirmed that I saw all of S2.  Turns out there were four OVAs released in the interim.  I hate how all these streaming services never pick up the OVAs.   :-\

Psycho-Pass was $5 on iTunes, so I bought it rather than rent the anime from the local Blockbuster analog. Yes, Japan still has rental places. Sadly, the iTunes version is English only, and a little hammy, but the big problem for me so far is the anglicized pronunciation of character names.

Black Clover has one of the worst directed voice acting performances of all time (in fact i'm struggling to think of worse) I urge all of you to watch episode one for as long as you can bare it so you can forever have ammo to mock this garbage

I agree with Momo, Asta's voice actor is not great which is unfortunate because in the manga, Asta screams a lot, like all the time. Hopefully he gets better really fast.

Friday and Saturday had a lot of new shows starting, I think this season is a lot stronger than last which was already nice with shows like Made in Abyss and Welcome to the Ballroom.

There's even a "manime" with Garo -Vanishing Line-.

You know what I didn't like about it?  How they show the protagonist training really hard and being clearly physically superior to pretty much everyone else, especially since they all rely on magic.  I was hoping what we'd see is the protagonist
spoiler (click to show/hide)
not being able to use magic, but would instead have some kind of immunity to it and could then use martial arts to win battles,

but nope-- they went the predictable route instead.

It's a big step down from the first season [likely owing to a different crew], but the movie [done by the Season 1 crew] is pretty good.

So can I just skip to the movie then or will I miss out on too much?

Can't believe it's been five years since I first saw season 1. Back then it was just something to tide me over until GitS:Arise started airing. While Arise was far from bad, I ultimately had more fun watching Psycho-Pass.
Mostly because the latter was actually telling a fresh new cyberpunk story while the former just continued rehashing the original manga chapters.

I was browsing Netflix and they put on some new animu. Do you guys know anything about ID-0 and Neo Yokio? They any good?

They also put on Blood Blockade Battlefront. I saw this two years ago and liked it but never finished it. Too confusing and the story never seemed to go anywhere but I liked the overall mayhem and it had style. Maybe I'll just watch that again...

I'm finally watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. At Episode 21 now and after a fairly slow start (excluding episode 4  :doge) I'm really interested in how it's going to pan out. I really like that the main char has barely even won a single fight and is surrounded by better, stronger alchemists. Good show.

Funny that you say it starts off slow. The original series has a lot of episodes dedicated to building the world and the characters before getting into the main plot. Then, at some point, it diverges from the manga and does its own thing. Brotherhood cut out a lot of that stuff.

I think when it departs from the manga, it's starts to get weak, but only because the manga exists. I think the original does the first parts of the manga really good, especially the dogchild chimera  :mjcry

This season I'm watching Kino's Journey [so far not nearly as good as the first anime series from the 00's, but it's still okay], The Ancient Magus' Bride, Girls Last Tour, Blend-S, Konohana Kitan, and Two Car. Still haven't started, but intend to star, Garo: Vanishing Line, Inuyashiki, and Blood Blockade Battlefront season 2.

Ancient Magus Bride is really good. Pulls a lot from British folklore and it looks beautiful. Easily my favorite of everything I'm watching.

Girls Last Tour is an odd one. Has a very slice-of-life feel to it, but it's about two girls traveling through a snow-covered, post-apocalyptic dystopia in a Kettenkrad. The character designs are really at odds with the design of the world, though, almost to the point of absurdity. It's worth giving a shot to see if you like it.

Oh they're animating AMB? I used to follow the Manga when it started getting published stateside. I guess it got pretty popular if they are animating it.

I probably won't post here too much about modern stuff, I don't watch nearly as much anime as I used to so I mostly hunt down older classics and childhood memories.

I got to thinking about the anime stuff I was watching as a wee lad in the early to mid-90s recently.

There was one show I found super weird and strange even back as a kid when the ehm "special" Japanese sensibilities of these shows didn't really register with me (they were all cartoons for me anyway). But I can't put a name to the show. I remember it was about a guy who was stranded in the future after getting car-chased by the police and falling off a cliff (?). There he had to band together with some cops to fight an old uber-criminal who turned out to be the protagonist's evil future self. And in the last episode they both fought each other with psychic powers in a time spiral or something :lol

Anyone perhaps know the name?
