When the Contrapoints controversy initially happened it was a point where I started to realize that I'm getting old and out of touch with some of this stuff because I couldn't make heads or tails of any of it. As someone with no stake in this that has never watched a Contrapoints video before or since this happened the correct move just seemed to be to Grandpa Simpson my way out the door.
I'm pretty sure you're not trending as old as you think. ERA did age poll recently and the site is filled with mostly 30 and up guys. Makes sense. Younger people don't do forums in the age of Twitch, Instagram, Youtube, and so on. Especially ones with archaic ISP email requirements. Hilarious how they copied GAF to the tee lol.
You just care about your time and attention.
Funny thing, I mostly agree with most of ERA on progressive topics. Yes, LGBT folks should be treated with dignity, respect, and be protected from discrimination. Yes, corporations should pay taxes. Yes, police forces have to much power to intimidate minorities.
But I'm not gonna spend oodles amount of time arguing online, which basically does shit for progressive causes. The amount of time people waste on that site arguing about shades of gray and other purity tests in the progressive umbrella is mind-boggling. There are no conservatives there, so it's not like they're arguing with those with radically different views. There is no consensus building. It's either get in line or "Fuck Off!"
