Enough of these shitty games. At this point, any signal boosting of THQ is also signal boosting the events that transpire and the site associated with it. Nah, I already have to live with the fact that THQ normalized a site that is linked to child porn and likely increased the chance of more people getting access to the sick media of me getting raped. This here, they gave 8chan more traffic, more visibility, so I will not be surprised if there's more people that stuck around after the AMA and are becoming radicalized as we speak. That's the consequences that this little shit show caused, and they need to be punished for it.
Quote from: Ms.Galaxy
All I ask for is the heads of those responsible for the AMA served to me on a platter with a side of fries and coleslaw, and by that I mean, I just want those responsible fired and shunned from this industry. I already have to live with the reality that there is child pornography of me floating around the dark net, now I have to live with the reality that a video game company signal boosted a site that's known to link child porn. What I'm asking for is for the company to take some damn responsibility, that's it. Not a half- hearted apology, not a vague promise of an investigation, not putting this under a run, but actual steps to fixing this shit.

I don't know her and regardless of how little credit I would give her it's wholly possible she was a victim of abuse when she was a kid, so there's really no way to say it without coming across as callous but :comeon

The rhetoric that the shooter believed in can be found all over the site with a cursory glance, THQ knew what the site stood for, they knew before hand what they were getting themselves into. Their actions caused 8chan to get more publicity, more traffic, and likely more followers, they have to accept that there is a chance they increased the likelihood of more people being exposed to radical beliefs and with it a chance that these people might become terrorists.

I don't see how people like this don't see the obvious flaw in their logic;  do they want Jussie's actions to stain the entire black community or not?

Because that's what is unfair; Jussie should not represent black people, and this guy should not represent white people.  He should represent a certain brand of white people, white supremecists.. and they are fucking scary, and do need to be watched/we should focus on eradicating this kind of hatred.  I don't know many white people who would disagree with that.

Same for when they want the book thrown at a white first offender;   I do get where the anger comes from and I do understand it, I don't hate them for it... but I don't find it constructive.

Nobody with a rational viewpoint would consider a man faking a hatecrime to advance their career or a man shooting up a place of religious worship "representative" of anyone in particular

I'm presently boycotting all games that THQ Nordic and Deep Silver publish on Steam. I am also tentatively boycotting certain Microsoft games on Steam on the grounds that THQ Nordic was apparently involved in bringing those games to Steam in some capacity and published the retail versions of those ports.
:thinking

Quote
Also note that Origin Access and Gamepass have THQN games on them so I cancelled my subs until they remove them.

Likewise, I'm cancelling my Humble Monthly subscription on similar grounds after the April bundle is fully revealed (the subscription was paid for over a year ago, so THQ Nordic have had my money).

Anyone involved with this stunt needs to go. From top to bottom. To me that's the ultimate goal here. I originally didn't not think a boycott was necessarily justified but a boycott meant to pressure them to fire those involved to me makes sense. Any of the devs under the THQNordic banner also have the responsibility to pressure them as well. The amount of lives and livelihoods this is affecting is drastic and the choices of a few are not affecting a great deal.

Let's see: you have the exact number of sales of any given title, but you don't know its budget, you don't know how well it's DLC does or doesn't, you don't know the expectations the developers/publishers had about its sales, you don't know the plans for the future of the game/franchise, you don't know jack about anything except that it sold a certain number of copies. What facts are you discussing exactly? "Wow, X game sold Y copies, I guess it's a success because the number Y is big in my opinion." "Y copies aren't enough for X to be successful because I think so." And so on, and so on.

Welcome back, brother.

I've seen people comment in here about the "secrecy" of those game sales number being an anomaly but really we barely know jack shit of what matters for films. Raw gross revenue doesn't tell you a lot, budget numbers are often unofficial or somewhat misleading, AFAIK majors and most distributors don't communicate on video or TV licences sales, etc...

What if the gunman had said: 'CALL OF DUTY IS THE BEST GAME EVER'.

Would videogames be guilty?
He didn't. Fuck outta here. Coward.

I genuinely doubt that PewDiePie expected that a few off color jokes and his fan base being a toxic cesspool would translate on a mass shooting. I am worried that YT gets panicked again and does something stupid.

The era poster who brought up Jodie Foster and Catcher In The Rye made a very astute point about attributing blame in a parasocial relationship.

Needless to say, they were banned for downplaying hate speech.

Pewdiepie is to blame
Reddit allowing places like the donald to exist are to blame
Twitter for allowing shapiro and others a platform is to blame
4chan 8 chan are to blame.
Twitch chat is a cancer i could blame.

This perpetuation of "trolling" culture is literally killing people. We allow racism directly, on so many platforms, and they disguise it by "joking" and "trolling".This is killing people. Take that shit seriously
:rofl
