when everyone agrees that democracy isnt able to action like, the only thing Americans support en masse
Part of the problem is people are fucking stupid and Congress goes stupid in kind(most polls that show majority support for Medicare-for-All drop to below if you start asking questions about paying higher taxes or changing current Medicare, to me a sign of ignorance, ripe for manipulation once again).
I remember back to pre-ACA conversations. Where almost everyone was fed up with the current system and knew shit needed to seriously change.
Systemically rampant rescission, denials, lifetime maximums, 45 million uninsured, 45 million under-insured, pre-existing conditions, a million or two annually going bankrupt, 14%+ annual rate hikes in many states.
Never met a conservative in college or elsewhere that thought Switzerland was a bad idea when explained to them. Fast forward 3 months into the healthcare debate and 40% of the country is clutching about socialism and death panels. Another 25% only wanted healthcare reform that fits their magical thinking. Moderate Democrats run to the Republican position to get away from the bad faith fear-mongering of their opponent's, to which you get shitty incrementalism as the only viable prize...And there you have 100 years of American healthcare politics.
