Out of curiosity I looked for a KH2 cutscene compilation on YT. There's 13+ hours of cutscenes in that fucking game. What a trash era for Japanese games.
I realized why mobile gaming took off so well in Japan and why console games fell off so much.
Japanese kids that grew up playing bloated JRPGs and bloated games in general grew up, more responsibilities, getting smacked with strenuous work schedules. JRPGs to a certain point in time were catered to children and teens.
Time and intelligence was built around kids and teens, their skill level too. Japanese developed games until this gen just about had no respect or thought put into the player's time.
Which, as a functioning adult, make the majority of JRPG's and even action games painful to go back to. Even darlings like Bayonetta and Vanquish are filled with constant cut scene interruptions.
