I'm going away this week for my 40th birthday, but because of a lot of timing issues I'm only getting out of town for 1 full day to relax which is nice, but it's been kind of bumming me because I haven't been out of my place since the pandemic started (well since Nov 2019 was the last getaway I did) and I wish I could go for at least a few days instead of just like 2 nights and 1 day.
So I sat down, looked at my calendar for the first free week and just stopped worrying about all the little details and booked a one week getaway in November to Sonoma/Napa/Healdsburg northern CA wine country. Gonna drive up solo from So Cal, so with stops and electric vehicle charging, going to be like a 10 hour solo drive (which I might break up halfway going up there and stay somewhere), but then I'll get a week of peace and quiet, which will be so nice.
I've never done a solo road trip before. Max I've driven is up to like Ventura for a show, so this will be something. Kind exciting though. Also that area of northern CA is one of the few areas of CA I've never been to, so excited to explore around a bit during the week I'm there since I'll have my car. It'll be a bit cold, but I like the cold, and it'll be after fires (hopefully) and before snow so the drive should be smooth.
Finally have something to look forward to. Feels good.
