also, i don't know why in the hell they didn't make it so you could start an open free roam where only people on your friends list could join in as they want, coming and going as they please, to save all the trouble of having to invite people over and over

The game definitely has that GTA4 blur on Ps3, but the claims that it looks like crap are completely false.

Looks just as good as Just Cause 2.

so, just hit a game-freezing bug

finished a mission, and instead of letting me continue on marston froze in place, couldn't move him at all while everything around me continued on as normal

had to reboot, lost about 45 minutes of playtime

this is just typical rockstar

they hype a new game's features, and everything sounds so awesome in the ads and marketing videos, but when the game actually comes out nothing really works right and it's loaded with a fuckton of bugs

Kinda happy my copy's not here yet; maybe the patch will come out next week and save me from similar occurrences.

hahaha, no lie, just hit another bug where my wanted level will not go away no matter what i do

killed a guy in mexico (who started shooting at me for no reason), got a wanted level, then outran the circle until the logo disappeared

so i figure i'll quick travel to my next mission, and a message tells me i can't set up camp when i am wanted, but according to the lack of a wanted logo i am no longer wanted

fuck it, i ride from mexico all the way into far north for my next mission, but it won't appear

so now i can't save anywhere, my next mission marker has disappeared, and the red circle reappears whenever i ride into a town even though the law won't shoot me

this game is turning from a few small annoyances into a downright miserable experience for me

and it's cool too because if that horse dies you can just go back and select the contract again and the horse will spawn.

i'm trying to drop a criminal on the train tracks but every time i got one the train is either on the other side of the map or is sitting at armadillo and isn't moving.

My friends list is filled with people playing this.

By comparison I've seen relatively few people playing Alan Wake.

Interesting...
I don't think that AW will sell much, going against RDR is bad move...

It will have a cult following though and DLCs are coming...

Thank god for that.  Could you imagine how fucking lame it would've been if you had to buy another contract after you lost your horse to some bullshit like a random cougar attack?  I would've been seriously ticked off.

And catching the train can be a bitch when all the sudden you want to ride the damn thing.  I'm trying to do the ambient challenge of shooting 5 flying birds from a moving train but I can't seem to track it down without me having to ride my horse to all hell and back.  There's got to be an easy way to get on board.  You know, that thing was seemingly everywhere when I was ignoring it but now it's like a freaking ghost.  Same thing with some of the other challenges.  Before I couldn't go 100 yards without running into a pack of coyotes but then when I to shoot 5 in a row without getting hit all the coyotes had been seemingly replaced by wolves.  I hope that's just random garbage happening and not a design decision.

had insomnia last night so i stayed up and finished the main story

the last half hour or so is pretty good, and surprisingly decent storytelling, but you have to go through about an hour of tedium to get there

overall it's buggy as fuckall and teeth-gritting clunky in parts, but fun enough that it kept me going until the end

i doubt i play sp much anymore, gonna give the multiplayer a few days to see if it can pull me in - if not, sold

also, the one thing i hated most about this game was required of me several times towards the end, i knew because i hated it so much i'd eventually have to do it multiple times at some point - i almost (almost) quit playing over it

Not at all. Deadwood was more town level, this is like Tombstone with the F word.

And I know you can skip to your turn, but I would've rathered something like Texas HOld em on XBLA.

No, not what you're thinking of.

Like I said, it's like Tombstone mixed with the "action" of Fistfull of Dollars with the cussing of Deadwood.

online is pretty fun as long as you can get a posse together. even then it's still rough.

my team and i where stuck in a terrible spawning loop down in Pikes Basin. basically anyone who was in the area was spawning in the same exact area so we would constantly spawn, die, spawn, die until one of us where able to run away and complete the mission.

Just focus on storyline.

I understand him(partially),GTA4 is full of life, people, cars, etc and RDR is like a wasteland as it should be.

Anyway,is anybody playing it without map, waypoint indicator?

I like it more,if forces you to know the land, listen to people and watch your surroundings.
It takes some time to get used to it though

Man, Eel, I've only had like maybe one or two bugs, and that's after like hours of gameplay.

It does sound like you got a special copy.

So far I love the game, although it does get tedious later in the game. I'm in Mexico and I've finally broken away from the game long enough to put Alan Wake in.

This game is basically GTA, but with horses. And I'd rather have cars.

Another overhyped R* game. It's good. But nowhere as good as the reviews are making it out to be...

this game is so much fun. Ive really been enjoying just helping out strangers, treasure hunting and doing the collection sidequests. I've done a few missions but Im enjoying the side stuff so much more! Im glad Rockstar actually made this game fun to just ride around in, theres always some bandits to blow away or animals to hunt.

I got the Ringer in Horseshoes achievement too  8)

Im trying to get the Bollard Twins outfit, just need one final scrap..." Search Thieves Landing" is the clue. Apparently you can find it during a mission, so I'll just hang out for it

Yeah. I loved it in San Andreas when I got to Level 12 Firefighter, and the car on fire was floating 200 yards above the freeway, out of reach of my firetruck, any nearby buildings, and God.

So I'm getting towards the end of the game.....

spoiler (click to show/hide)
And I just finished killing Dutch (or I guess he killed himself) and then some god awful acoustic guitar song comes on and I'm told to ride to see my wife.  Fine.  So I start riding towards the "A" on the map and I guess this is a big emotional moment in the game because that shit ball song is playing but as I'm riding down the trail, slowly I might add, I get fucking attacked by a couple of cougars.  The first one took out my horse and I started running away trying to spawn another one but I kept fumbling the buttons because I was caught so off guard. Then the other cougar swiped at me throwing me on to the train tracks, right in front a passing train killing me instantly (obviously), all the while that horrible song was playing.

I got killed in what ammounted to a cut scene.

Awesome. :/

And I don't remember this song playing when I entered Mexico but evidently it's supposed to.  Freakin' bugs.  It would've been awesome to listen to this song as you crossed into Mexico for the first time.   All I got was attacked by a never ending swarm of wolves.  Seriously, I collected around 40 or so pelts before I got bored and went to the nearest town.

My game is sabotaging me.
