That was one aspect worrying me about news of the curve flattening, because some people may already start to "relax" and feel like it's time to start reopening shit again, when in reality, this is exactly the moment to double down on things, in my opinion.

Thousands of spring breakers traveled from one Florida beach to cities across the US. Mapping their phone data shows the importance of social distancing amid the coronavirus outbreak.

A small but necessary price to pay for sound fiscal policy.

Eurobonds would onlly end with the Dutch voting against the EU and electing Wilders or Baudet instead.
And the same thing would happen if many people died because transfer of patients to Belgium is not possible and this crisis depletes our healthcare resources.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. With Schengen closed, the Russians in Rome and the Dutch and Germans blocking Eurobonds as the south literally bleeds the EU is effectively dead.
The only ones who haven't figured it out yet are the bureaucrats in Brussels.

Lmao if you think the EU is dead

If anything it will be more how Holland and the UK want it, less political

Our bank sent a message to all customers that they are offering 3 months of no payments on houses and cars if someone needs that right now.

The real question, why the fuck are people eating bats in the first place?

tl;dw
Famines. People eat anything they can find.
Wildlife is declared a "natural resource". Minimal regulation, appaling conditions (stacked cages, animals shitting on one another).
This becomes the new status quo, even after food security from conventional sources is restored. Wildlife exploitation becomes billion dollar industry with strong lobby.
Did you know exotic wildlife has mystical healing properties and also makes your dick hard?

Why would China lie to us.

This really makes me question the quality of the milk powder I enjoy ordering off Chinese auction website

 :fbm

There is a story how the chinese are mass direct importing a german milk powder called Aptamil(there is a chinese version of it but they don't trust it) so I guess you're not alone in questioning the quality of chinese milk powder  ;)

Everything is fine in China. The magical power of authoritarian government solved the problem, just like it solves all problems.

China has ordered all its movie theaters to close again after more than 600 had reopened

Uh-oh... seems like there's still a problem.

Wonder what they do with their professional basketball now? They were planning on restarting the league in a week or so.

Not too surprised to see cases jump back up again once things opened back up and people started returning to their normal routines. And exactly why the "We need to get people back to work again right now!" is an extremely bad idea.

Yeah so many of the epidemiologists are saying not to be surprised if this thing comes back, possibly multiple times. We aren't going back to anything resembling our old lives any time this year.

I heard that eating bats and stuff wasn't a part of Chinese culture. It's just some elaborate delicacy where people eat what the fuck ever. Could be wrong and don't want to state an ignorant statement on Chinese people which could be interpreted as or help increase ignorance.

We've had restrictions on how many tins of baby formula you can buy at one time for years now because Chinese diagou businesses are buying bulk loads and reselling in China leaving local stores low on stock.

Probably fibrotic scarring of the lungs. As some cases proceed to serious pneumonia, lung damage can occur. So the people in very serious condition unsurprisingly carry damage out of it.

This National Geographic piece explains the process.

Quote
When working properly, this inflammatory process is tightly regulated and confined only to infected areas. But sometimes your immune system goes haywire and those cells kill anything in their way, including your healthy tissue.

“So you get more damage instead of less from the immune response,” Frieman says. [...]

During the third phase, lung damage continues to build—which can result in respiratory failure. Even if death doesn’t occur, some patients survive with permanent lung damage. According to the WHO, SARS punched holes in the lungs, giving them “a honeycomb-like appearance”—and these lesions are present in those afflicted by novel coronavirus, too.

That mental image would be enough to make anyone wary.

Ironically, so did around here. Which was weird. They normally don't do too many weather "style" alerts like that, it's generally just for missing kids that are like MILES away from anywhere near the county.
