I got paid for my freelance gig and for cleaning up scripts, and promptly went to stimulate the economy:

New phone!

New game!

New 1TB external hard drive!

New beer!

... I paid off my driving classes, the rest of my car payment (buying a Camry off my folks) and stowing the rest for bills, Christmas and expensive car insurance that I'll have to pay in the Spring.

Eris is a good phone, but Sprint sucks. I've had all the mobile carriers, and T-Mo has the best plans and the best customer service. They've given me a ton of credits, bend over backwards on my billing, etc.

I'll never leave them.

Sprint customer service was great for me the one time I had to call them. Sprint and Tmo are basically the same price except your unlimited web on TMo gets you 2G 98% of the time.

I pay $59.99 for 500 anytime minutes, mobile-to-mobile, nights and weekends, unlimited text and unlimited 3G web (which I have not had any issues in either DC or LA metro areas and get 3G ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE TIME). Sprint doesn't even touch that.

T-Mobile also consistently beats out Sprint in J.D. Power rankings across the board, usually only beat by Verizon - which I concede is a far better service, but has personally screwed me out of $200, so will never get my business ever again.

I can also get unlimited everything for $79.99.

Uh, Sprint's $89 plan doesn't get you unlimited minutes. T-Mobile does. Their unlimited everything plan is $99. That's a $20 difference. Versus T-Mobile, which has 3G in 113 cities and in every metropolitan area I've visited the past six months. I've had no problems in San Diego, Los Angeles, New York, D.C., etc.

I guess if I lived in the middle of nowhere, I'd pay more for more expansive 3G coverage. But you're reaching.

Sprint has a more robust network, there is no doubt - but I have no need for it. And it costs more. And T-Mobile has incredible customer care.

Are you kidding. Between billing, technical issues, etc. - having great customer care matters. I actually just extended my contract today on the basis of T-Mo's customer care. They've been great, either when setting up stuff, dealing with technical issues, billing, etc.

Networking. When you sleep on enough couches, hang out with enough people, pass around enough of your own work... people get into a position to help you out and recommend you to other folks.

I'm in line to get a real credited gig if a project sells too, simply because the producers have been friends of mine for years and I nailed an interview with the third exec producer - he loved my work.

Sprint's $69.99 plan gives you unlimited calling to any mobile, anytime, with 450 minutes to use for land lines between 7am and 7pm on weekdays. That's not close enough? T-Mobile's unlimited plan WITH A SUBSIDIZED PHONE, apples to apples, is $99/month just like Sprint.

I don't really care about Any Mobile Anytime, because that's assuming all I call is mobile numbers, which is silly. I probably get ringed by land lines more than mobiles. Mobiles call my office phone.

Not to mention, I've had issues with Sprint customer service. Like I said, service is king.

No, Verizon sucks too. They've got a great network, but again, took me for a $200 ride. I've dealt with Sprint and AT&T, and wasn't really satisfied with either. Like I said, Sprint can't touch T-Mo when it comes to pricing and customer service.

Wait no it's $30 more if you want the data. I was looking at 500 minutes + text/web

TMo chooses to start with unlimited voice at the bottom and work up to unlimited data, whereas Sprint starts with unlimited data/text at the bottom and moves on up to unlimited voice. They both peak with unlimited everything at $99.

All these plans include unlimited mobile to mobile with any carrier.

Like I said, 6 of one half a dozen of the other. 3G coverage vs customer service. Yearly fully subsidized upgrades vs whatever special deal you got. It's a wash.

For me it is a second phone, so I did not want the added bulk of the Droid. The Droid is fucking HUGE man, and heavy.

I also really prefer the SenseUI to stock Android and my other phone already has free nav so I don't care about that. I'm hoping HTC comes through with their Android 2.0 OTA update.

Although I guess I don't really care about that either, I've had a hard time spotting the differences between them. The Eris also lets you pinch to zoom.

Since the system is fine otherwise, I'm going to keep playing it. Since the PS3 looks less and less appealing, if when the 360 breaks down, I'll just get an Arcade unit. By that time, hopefully, it'll be $149-179.

I have the same Seagate, except it's a 500gb. I was pretty happy with their warranty until they knocked the coverage period down from 5 years to 3 without receipt a month after I bought it. The HDD itself is solid (so far)

Out of morbid curiosity I bought the Watchmen Ultimate Cut blu-ray off Amazon for $30.99.

I wasn't a big fan of the film in the theater. Thought it was...ok. Never watched the dir cut or black freighter. Hoping that this version that's 53 mins longer than the theaterical cut will make me like the film like Kingdom of Heaven theatrical -> DC. Might be completely wrong. No idea what I'm getting into!
