Before going any further, let’s see what mental images a synopsis like this conjures: “Takao Kasuga is a shy, book-loving high school student who’s had a crush on classmate Saeki Nanako for as long as he can remember. One day, in a moment of lust and foolishness, he steals her gym uniform from class, only to be caught in the act by the quiet and lonely Sawa Nakamura. Knowing she has sway over him, Nakamura forces Kasuga to make a contract with her, or else risk having his secret revealed to the entire class!”

What you might expect from such a synopsis is a harem anime where a bemused, stand-in protagonist finds himself pulled into wacky situations by a cast of cute and quirky moe girls. What you get is one of the most genuinely disturbing and hard to watch anime series of the past 5 years.

Oh, I finished Doubt.  Doubt is a locked door mystery game of werewolf. 

werewolf is a party game where everyone in a group is a hunter except one member is a werewolf.  the hunters try to find the werewolf using deduction while the werewolf is kills one person a round.  the game is one of paranoia as the werewolf does his best to remain hidden while the hunters typically turn on one another to find the true culprit.

in the manga they play a similar game over phones called Rabbit Doubt, where there are rabbits and a wolf.  A group of players / friends decides to meet in person when they are all knocked out.  they awaken with tattoos of a bar code on their bodies and they are being murdered one by one.  fear and paranoia ratchet up as everyone is a suspect.

the first volume is goofy but fun as the people try to figure out what is happening and as they turn on each other trying for figure out who the killer is
the second volume is goofy stupid as the true killer is revealed.  The ending is straight up dumb and never ending as twist after twist after twist after twist is revealed. it reads like a Bendis comic book and waiting for this in serial form must have been agonizing as you'd get 3 conversations and splash page after splash page of eyeball close ups as people react in shock to the latest turn of events.

avoid like the plague.

Just watched the three episodes out of the new Genshiken. I wasn't a huge fan of the first episode but the other two were top notch once they got into more character focused stuff. The new characters are pretty good so far, Hato especially is excellent.

Now the wait for more and the decision of what to watch next.

pics of Attack on Titan statues / toys

silver spoon continues to be quite good even if the theme every week is "wait, food comes from ANIMALS?!"  Good characters and a good way of teaching stuff while being entertaining.  Like learning about ban'ei which is weighted horse racing w/ obstacles designed to showcase the horses strength rather than its speed.

I watched up to episode 8 of Valvrave and dear god, I'm not sure I can take much more of it. It's really pretty awful.

I will say it's well paced.

And I have a question. What is this Girl und Panzer? Is it legit? I take a look at it and I see lame animation and moe designs complete with the check list of personalities. So I'm not interested, but it seems to have a strong following complete with people yelling how it needs to be on tv so more people can see this show. Is it actually good or just otaku bait?
