I really enjoyed Berserk ep2. Thought it looked better, the material is good, hirasawa susumu song, puck being the comedy guy is great. Like the biggest downside is obviously the action animation and they're speeding through the material soooo fast there's like almost no pause between dialogue lines. The directing is ok imo. It's not amazing but it's not poorly directed; I find it serviceable.

I dunno, I'm really enjoying and excited about seeing all this Berserk manga get animated! Like I'm even ok with them speeding through since who knows if we'll ever get another season and if they get through like 10 years of material in 24 eps, more chance to see some of the really good parts animated.

But like I've been a Berserk fan since since early 2000s, and used to post and read a tone on Skullknight.net forum every chapter. I love the dreamcast game, I love the PS2 game. Finally seeing the post-Golden Age stuff animated and stuff like Serpico & Puck animated makes me really happy. Can't wait for the Musou game as well. So I'm pretty biased.

I read Miura is writing the script for ep3, excited!

Black Swordsman is after. Well, it's both, but I mean the stuff after. Episode 2 is already WELL after, where he's getting captured by Farnese. He's already escaped by the end of the episode.

There have only been some minor flashbacks to Golden Age stuff, like Guts' fight against the 100, but they're not going to go through the entire thing again.

There's weird monsters invading and naturally only high school kids with special powers to summon "armor" (AKA next to nothing) and weapons and shit can save them! But how do they power up? Why, by being fondled and made to orgasm, of course! This show is so lewd that a network or two banned it from airing in Japan.

I went to kissanime and watched the first episode of that last one. I cannot believe that was meant to air on regular TV here. That's quite explicit content for actual standard broadcast.

And it's horrible writing to boot. I mean, I know I'm the guy complaining about the plot in a porno here, but there are wide swathes of people yammering at each other and fighting sequences, and it's all tropes and nonsensical tactics. Nobody has thought about anything. But otaku do love their conflicted girlfriend-mothers in bikinis, so whatever.

I don't get a show like this, actually- why not just make it a full-on hentai with that kind of content?

And that was the ep written by Miura? What. Only redeeming part of ep3 was Serpico being awesome Serpico. I really hate how creepy rapey Berserk manga was for a while. Will be happy when they get past this stuff and into the more Gattsu and his crew material.

Ive seen a lot of anime, some recently, some months ago but I don't always post about it, so here are my

thoughts:

Berserk 2016 is good, does it look very good? lol no but it's very entertaining. The sound when Guts swings his sword is great, I laughed at first but the sound has such a unique effect, it really works for me. I think it's a mistake to compare the quality to a PS2 game, you should compare to other CGI series like Sidonia,Bubuki Buranki or even western shows like TMNT or Star Wars. Does it look good compared to those shows? lol no but I think it's a fairer comparison than a video game. However I don't know the difference in making a CGI cutscene in a game and making a CGI series, could be a lot, could be none. I'm no expert.

Please Save My Planet is 6 part OVA series, nice shoujo stuff, alien reincarnation and psychic powers if I remember correctly.

Cyber City Oedo 808,Wicked City and Demon City were good stuff. I think I've seen most Kawajiri works aside from Highlander.

The Last: Naruto the Movie and Boruto were really nice, I preferred Boruto because it was shorter and had a simpler story. High quality looking movies especially Boruto.

I like Twin Star Exorcists/Sousei no Onmyouji because it's nice simple action show about fighting,training and hijinks. It does nothing really special but it's a nice show.

Jojo,Mob Psycho,Days,Bananya,Taboo Tattoo,D.Grayman,Sweetness and Lighting,Thunder Bolt Fantasy are all nice. There are some stuff I'm forgetting, so I'll make another

post in the future.

post: Stuff like Berserk would be a tough sell regardless of the time(80s,90s,today). The 1997 version according to some quick googling only had DVD Boxset release at first and only sold around 2500K. The closest thing to Berserk that I think sold well was Record of Lodoss War but that's straight up light hearted compared to Berserk.

Highlander is good. In the sense that it's still 100% a kawajiri joint and hits all the things you expect him to hit. Make sure you look for the director's/international cut.

Berserk is going to continue to be stingy with the frames, huh*. They're also boiling it down so drastically, it's probably become hard to follow for anyone unfamiliar with the source. Puck even implored Guts to fight like usual, even though he barely knows him in this version. Targeting mainly the manga readers doesn't strike me as a good idea. The sound of the sword is growing on me, though, despite it resonating like a bell. Speaking of, the possessed horse sounded way too funny for what was happening. At least distort the actors voice, people, wtf.

...I'm so down on this show. orz

*I hope for at least the fight against Zodd to consist of more than a bunch of key poses straight from the manga, with a ton of superfluous close-ups of their faces.

I'm sorry. I don't get the big deal about evangelion. I've tried like 3 times to watch it and I just can't make it passed like episode 8 or 10 or something. Shinji is a goddamned waste of space and so is nearly every one else in that show. I don't see what people see in it at all.

It's a one of the best directed shows about dealing with social anxiety and depression, something a lot of 15 year olds (especially in Japan) can relate to. If you can't relate at all then yeah I can see it being a case of a show about a bunch of losers and annoying to watch.

3.0 was fine (or at least, it was new), the intro alone puts to shame anything featured in the 2 first films which overall are big budget remakes with mediocre inspiration and so so production values considering their means. Not surprised to learn they're going in blind and that 4.0 never really was a thing in production. Honestly he should shit a nonsense script (that's what it will be anyway) with Mary being a time traveler and Shinji's martian mother or something and let Tsurumaki & gang do their crazy stuff. I'll certainly dig something fresh and wild with Diebuster shades than yet another retreading.

I'm one of the saddest motherfuckers you'll ever meet and I still thought Shinji was a bitch ass motherfucker.

You don't have to like him, it's about relating to some of the themes. Stuff like abandonment "ah, another unfamiliar ceiling" is very well portrayed. The live action portion of EoE in Shinji's mind where he tries to convince himself it's still worth the effort to live with others vs isolation is one of the most artistically beautiful sequences on social anxiety ever made. And it's right there from the start with the porcupine dilemma. Shinji's struggle with the idea that getting close to people is scary and hurts but it's still worth it because of what other's bring is the core theme throughout the whole show.

Berserk ep4 was a little better since it was more people talking which the show handles alright, and less rape horse (although he still makes a flashback cameo). The Mogus stuff was decent and sorta captured the spirit, just way uglier. Kind of looking forward to the next few eps because that gets further into the meat of the arc, but this was an ok start.

Man Akito of the Exiled is really terrible. The plot is so dumb. Now Code Geass was dumb, but Lulu was an engaging character. The plot was so crazy and full of energy that it was fun. There was a lot of excitement and at least the playing around of some sort of themes and whatnot.

Akito has no fun or engaging characters and is filled with those emotionally cold anime types that I'm really starting to hate. It has a villain that straight up sucks. It's story is just dry and really has nothing going on. And Lulu and Suzaku show up for no real reason other then to be in it. God I am so tired of anime characters waxing the same philosophy bullshit about live, how bad mankind is, and whatnot. Except it's worse in Akito because this show literally brings nothing cool to the table and is literally a repeat of every conversation you've ever seen in an anime ever.

It's one of the worst things I've seen in a while.
