alright, I just beat the first 8 levels (1 world). here's my thoughts:

Pluses:

+ It's more of the same. Literally. Control is the same, level goals are the same. There's some optional non-score shit to collect, like special coins.
+ Levels are bigger and there's some clever extensions of classic YI environmental hazards and platforming.

Minuses:

- it really *is* more of the same. If you didn't like YI because you're a syphilitic distinguished mentally-challenged fellow, YI DS won't cure you.
- music is awful.
- art direction is a lot less consistent.

So far, I'm digging it. The screen separation isn't an issue so far, and I like the bigger levels a LOT. It's definitely a bit more difficult, but I also think the platforming challenges are a little more interesting, at least in the early game.

B+ is kind of a step down from A+, though. It's like Halloween II compared to Halloween.

Most of the good games that I play are B+ so I don't see the big deal. A- to A+ games are a rare sight.

Really, my only BIG complaint is the huge downgrade in music composition. The tunes are annoying simple ambient crap.

World 2 wasn't that hard. It's really quite creative. Jeremy Parish is honestly unsuited to review platformers.
