shit I bought brothers in arms on Monday when it was 33% off instead of 75%.  That was stupid.  I could have saved a whole $5.  That's like 8 steam games on a good sales day!

Havin trouble. Had a nasty bug on the system, cleaned it out, did a restore point, and I'm good. Been playin the witcher tho, and now it won't start. :( stops working.

Checked cache, still failed. Redownloaded last night, still nothing. Other games run fine. Any suggestions?

Try uninstalling it, then manually deleting any leftover files and folders pertaining to the witcher on your system (check in both program files and my documents), remember to back up your savegames tho. then run a registry cleaner to get rid of any entries.

Try redownloading the witcher after you've done all that, see if it works.

It still does an internet check when you first start it up, but it doesn't require a constant connection anymore.

Settlers 7 still does though (according to GAF).  :-\

The one good thing about Ubisoft's online bullcrap is that you get get points for doing achievements that you can use to unlock stuff in-game. Nothing major, but it's kinda cool. I'm playing Forgotten Sands with Ezio's AC2 costume.

Alliance of Valiant Arms runs on UE3 ad it might be the worst looking UE3 game ever.

Yeah, it looks really bad. It's not particularly fun either, like a poor man's poor man's Counter-Strike.

The Indie Variety Pack is worth $10.  ARES and Capsized are C grade platformers that are more fun than they should be, Swords and Soldiers is babby's first RTS whose simplicity is appealing since I am bad at 'real' RTS and Atom Zombie Smasher is a unique twist on tower defense games.

Considering Dota 2's largest competition is a F2P game, it is kind of a no brainer.  :P

I just hope they don't lock away characters because that is stupid.  :piss2

If I had to guess, I'd say they'll probably do it kind of like Team Fortress 2. You can either play a whole bunch and try to unlock the additional characters or you can buy them outright.

And the shitty thing is I don't know what's wrong with it and don't have spare parts to test shit.  So I'm waiting for another harddrive to rule out that it's not the SSD, even though I've already had the original SD replaced.  Next step is to have some dick at a hardware shop charge me 100 to say that it's either the MD or ram.  I'm pissy about it.

To be honest, I don't know why these indie devs keep releasing these multiplayer-only games. They're all going to be dead in few months, at the most. You're not going to develop the next Counter-Strike, the the multiplayer market is already too flooded with AAA titles from billion dollar devs. Maybe they get lucky and get enough people to jump on board from Day 1 and they spread some decent word of mouth around and you make enough money to pay the bills. But I just look at games like Dino D-Day and shake my head. It's a ridiculous enough game that I probably would have bought it if it had a story mode, but no way in hell I'm buying some high-concept multiplayer game with busted ass gameplay that nobody's going to want to touch after the first week.

shrug, I bought MNC.  You get a free guest pass with it that lasts for a month so you give it to your buddy and the two of you can play it for $3.75.

If you play it for a few hours, and have fun, that seems worth $3-4.

Multiplayer games are all about community, if you're not in at launch you're missing out unless you've got the next Counter Strike or Team Fortress 2.

You'd think people would learn from trying to compete against WOW, TF2, CS etc... someone name the last multiplayer knock off that still had an active community 12 months later?
