Cool. I could use some recommendations, since I've stuck with Blizzard games for too long (and other non-Steam games). Also I just found the Bore group, so I stalked you all. :-*

What are your favorite Steam games?

Play Path of Exile! It's free. (ish)

The official way to get backgrounds is by obtaining all the cards in a particular game and then crafting a badge [doing this nets you an emoticon and a background]. But you can just go on the marketplace and buy whichever ones you want, although I'm not sure if you need to own the game or not.
You don't have to own the game, anyone is free to buy anything, fortunately.

I got shittons of emoticons and backgrounds when grind-leveling during the 2014 holiday sales. lol
But I gave away most of it. Aside from the stuff I'm already using, feel free to send me empty trade offers for anything of interest: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Ayumi/inventory/

There are artwork groups and stuff if you wanna get super serious about it though.

do you have anything final Fantasy related

Gave it a try some years ago, but found it hard to enjoy since I've played too much Diablo 3. Same with Grim Dawm, although I'm giving that a try anyway.

Nope, but you can search here: https://steamcommunity.com/market/ (for instance: "final fantasy background")

I hear ya. I'm just burnt out on D3 after thousands of hours of gameplay.  :doge

PoE has a new expansion with six new acts launching in about a month (right around the same time as the Necro character pack, probably) that will remove the need to play through the same content on multiple difficulties. I'm gonna play it through then and see if I can get into the endgame at all.

I liked Grim Dawn a lot, but it suffers from the same issue that PoE used to- having to play the same content on multiple difficulties, which I just feel is bad, retrograde game design. A shame, too, because the core gameplay in Grim Dawn is probably better than PoE, but that's life.

They all seem like great games, but not really interesting enough to get into if you've had a taste of one of them (aka played too much).

Same with Torchlight. I used to play the first a lot, then Diablo 3 came, which honestly kinda ruined Torchlight II for me. Great game though.
Really hope we get Portal 3 eventually. The first two were amazing games. I was very late to the partynwith Portal 2 and didn't get to try the multiplayer until earlier this year. Wow, it was so much fun! But I need more of it. :3

I converted some father's day gift cards in to some steam moneys, but it's just sitting there. I was thinking GTA5, but the necessary HD space would ultimately require me to uninstall Witcher 3.  :'(  It just doesn't feel right.

What to do?

Yeah, definitely. The only major issue with it is that the ending is too open-ended [they left too much room for the sequel that probably won't ever happen now], but the gameplay is really good and it's got a diverse range of locales and things to do.

Got OneShot, which is really charming, and the Witcher 3 season pass, because if I don't get it after playing for 25 hours, I'll definitely get it if I play it for 150!

Slime Rancher is awesome. It's kind of a mix of adventure and farming games, and it manages to be pretty compelling without getting too grindy. It also gets frequent and significant content updates. I bought it at launch and there's at least twice the amount of game now. And it's pretty dang adorable too. Highly recommended

Got the steam link on sale and I'm surprised how well it works. I'm connected via lan and powerline, and the lag is barely noticeable. Even WLan would be okay for role-playing games. Only issue performance wise is that some more taxing games seem to run a bit worse. Dunno why, maybe the streaming is using up some performance. Or maybe framerate issues are just more noticeable on the bigger screen.

Nintendo fans are marking out because some guy clipped through a wall and ended up in an empty area you're not supposed to see. Little do they know you can do this in pretty much every Steam Greenlight game. :gaben

same, i've only played the first Max Payne and Alan Wake, but i enjoyed both. i wanted to buy Alan Wake again, since i hadn't played it since it first released on 360... as i quickly learned, there's some weird shit going on with the distribution of that game (not available on Steam, GOG or Origin anymore). :/

Hopped into Team Fortress 2 for really the first time in probably two years a couple days ago.

First of all, got matchmade into a 2FORT CTF game because of course I did. What else should I have expected. :lol

Second of all, oh. my. god. what has happened to this beautiful visual design what is even going on what are these weapons is this stuff cosmetic or what.

After five minutes of feeling lost and useless had slipped back into my medic instincts like I'd never left. Was downing people with the blutsager, saw people clearly not knowing what to do with a medic switching off a heal to saw down a spy or scout, was climbing up the scoreboard like nothing. Switched over to Demoman because we had nothing for offense and after a few minutes on that was back into him, sentries were no longer being allowed to be placed in open locations or near walls I could use, this one soldier was entirely flabbergasted by me detonating stickies in mid-air especially if they came out as crits, which I used to use all the time. Then I bottled him for good measure. It was like when I visited DoD:S briefly a few years ago for some reason and got tore up but then suddenly my BAR/STG44 had shaken the dust off and there were bodies to be dropped.

Then I got a bunch of XP at the end. Ha! XP! Towards cosmetic rewards and a crate! Oh, Team Fortress 2. We'll always have the class update days I suppose.

Maybe I'll play some more if I play any Overwatch and feel totally useless to the team no matter what I do, no matter what accolade I get or even involvement in PLAY OF THE GAME. (It is kinda odd that many "infamous" Overwatch people don't seem to have been TF2ers? They came from DOTA or something instead. Maybe it's just ones I'm familiar with.)

Almost ten years old. October 10, 2007. So it's been out longer than it was in development!
