I'm confident that's how it would be anywhere. :P
You know who did a pretty good job recently? Best Buy. I ordered a game from them pretty late at night, but they still said it would come the next day. And it came from their own shipping service the next day as promised.

My experience with same day and one day from Amazon has been piss poor here in Chicago.
In both instances it was just either some manga or anime blu ray, but what happen both times is that the Amazon deliverer must freak out when no ones there. They then proceed to not figure out they can just leave the package in the door and instead so they couldn’t deliver it.
One time this happen the order ended up being sent back and just canceled by amazon. I had to reorder, but by then the price had gone back up and Amazon was giving me no quarter.
Never had any problems with two day by USPS or UPS.

Haven't tried one-day shipping from Amazon, but getting free two-day shipping to the middle of nowhere is pretty great. :aah
