I dunno, 400k sounds really good to me for a 1. A JRPG, and 2. HD "collection" that doesn't even include the second numbered game.

Don't really like KH1. KH2 was flashy and had a lack of depth and abilities, but it was was at least fun to play since the combat didn't feel like crap. BBS had a cool ability system if I remember and the three protags had some cool gimmicks. Never played the DS games, because they're on well the ......DS systems.

Eh. Really they kind of blend together at this point. I'd probably play KH3, but also don't really care if it ever comes out.

But clearly KH3 should do alright. It's going to be on both systems as well so maybe that will help.

KH isn't just a jrpg. KH is one of the trifecta: FF, Poke, and KH. These are the only jrpgs that sell well in NA.

Can't believe that KH 2 was released almost one decade ago. And there's still no sequel.

SE could've made crazy money by releasing more main games, but instead they've released one crappy KH spinoff after another. Yeah, even BBS sucked ass.

SE ruined the franchise. I'm not interested in it anymore. Same happened to FF after the horrible FFXIII games. SE, you fucking suck.

KH3 is being made by the same team that did BBS and 3D, so if you thought BBS was a crap spinoff that didn't matter, I've got some bad news.

Really decent sw numbers for those games.

yeah, dead rising looks like it's on pace to sell as well as the first one, rather than the kind of dumpy sales on the second.  forza's doing pretty much par for the series.  ryse didn't bomb, so i guess it wins the battle vs Knack.

i have to wonder what the budgets look like for these games vs last gen, though.  common sense would say they cost more to make, and if that's the case, selling flat vs last gen's numbers isn't going to cut it.
Yeah I can't imagine these games are successful in a profit sense. Still though, I bet Capcom Vancouver is very pleased with DR3. They made a damn good launch game and it paid off.

I dont think the budgets went up actually for most games.

Still the same tools as last gen, just now devs can set things to pc "high" settings.

No real reason why costs should increase. They might even drop for most games due to middleware being mature.

With PS3 and Xbox 360, cost of development saw a significant increase from the previous generation. Now next-gen's on the horizon, and many are anticipating another big bump up in costs (Epic's Tim Sweeney said a few months ago that costs could double). If you ask Hermen Hulst, managing director at Killzone developer Guerilla Games, however, next-gen shouldn't be a burden on developers' bottom line.

Speaking as part of a first-party developer roundtable attended by GamesIndustry International immediately following the PS4 reveal, Hulst noted that while costs are going up on PS4, it's not as dramatic as some would have thought. For example, on Killzone 1 and 2, team sizes maxed out at 125, he said, and for the new Killzone Shadow Fall on PS4, the team is now at 150 people.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-02-21-ps4-devs-speak-up-on-costs-not-as-scary-as-some-led-you-to-believe

And this is for a flagship graphical showcase game that was rushed for launch.

Most games shouldnt see a rise so.

And even if you take a look at that number, the costs would be approximately 20% higher just on team size alone, not to mention how much they shifted onto outsourcing companies and the time spent getting an engine up and running.  So flat sales, 20% increase in costs, sounds like a winner to me.

I haven't played the SNES Aladdin, but the Genesis one doesn't quite hold up. The animation still looks great to this day, but the hit detection is all kinds of fucked. Enemies don't react when you swing your sword at them either.

Yeah, I did play Sonic on a Mega Drive - and nothing else. :lol Never owned the console myself. I also had access to a Master System with some built-in game (?) but I forget what it was. The next thing Sega I took notice of was a Dreamcast kios running Ecco the Dolphin and it looked pretty amazing to me at the time. The Saturn might as well not have existed.

I think I knew one person who had a Mega Drive. There was a lot of coverage of Sega in magazines that I read, but I rarely saw the games and console in toystores. Consoles wise it was all about Nintendo until Sony came. Overall of course much more people played PC games over here.
