The game looks great but I'm afraid it's going to be sandwhiched between Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West and Triangle Strategy.
Square Enix is also sending BABYLON'S FALL out to die it seems.
I don't have a lot of faith in Triangle Strategy.
imo as a big srpg fan of the 32bit days, there hasn't been a good traditional grid-based srpg outside Fire Emblem since like Tactics Ogre PSP remaster, Wild Arms XP or even FFT. And FE plays a bit different so it doesn't really count to me.
Every once and a while they try to make a new tactics srpg but they always capture some of the magic but fail on the rest. Like the quality of life stuff will suck and it'll be slow and clunky, or the story will be bad, or it will have bad map design, or ugly art, etc...
It's a genre that just hasn't seen a great game in like 15-20 years. I'd love there to be another great one, but I have the lowest of low expectations for modern attempts at tactics srpgs.
