The unironic posters in this thread remind me of a sleepover I had when I was 11. One of the guys started telling an erotic story with guitar accompaniment and all ten of us jerked off inside our sleeping bags silently without saying a word to each other or acknowledging it. I never hung out with those people ever again.

London (CNN) — Walkers are relieving themselves in the grounds of Queen Elizabeth's Scottish residence, staff have said.
Employees at Balmoral Castle, which the Queen frequently visits for holidays throughout the year, have complained about wet wipes being left on the estate and urged people not to use the spot as an outdoor toilet.

The billionaire saw Trump as a buffoon, and yet he mostly agreed with what the president was saying about the virus. “If people aren’t going to work, it’s a depression. Trump isn’t wrong. He just doesn’t know how to explain it,” the billionaire said. He took a stab at putting it succinctly: “Do you want to end up losing your life savings so that the old person you don’t know can live?”
I asked if he intended to say that Americans were going to have to die to save the economy. Public health and private profit were at odds, he answered, and one was going to win out. “By focusing on the economy, a lot of people are going to get sick. And if we focus on public health, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs,” he said. “I know which way it’s going to end, but you can’t say it. You sound insensitive. In today’s world, everybody’s going to attack you.”
“The person who explained this best to me is my contractor,” he said, referring to a man who was building a house for him. “I say to him, ‘Hey, what are you going to do if we have this lockdown? How long do you think we won’t be able to build for?’
“He looks at me like, ‘What, are you talking to me?… If you’re willing to pay us, we’re willing to show up.’
“I said, ‘Aren’t you worried?’
“He said, ‘I don’t have money in the bank like you. If I ain’t working, my family ain’t eating, and then my mortgage ain’t getting paid. Can I take two weeks off? Sure. But anything more than that? No.’
“I said, ‘OK, I don’t care. If you guys want to show up, I’ll pay you.’
“He looked at me: ‘Hey, big guy, this is America.’ ”
The billionaire stopped his story and addressed me directly. “How would you like it if you didn’t get paid?” he asked. Then he shifted gears.
“Why don’t you talk about yourself?” he said. “How much do you make?” He ventured a guess and was way off. I wouldn’t tell him by how much or in which direction.
“Don’t be embarrassed,” he said. “You’re doing a great job.”
When I asked the investor if he was in any financial danger, he told me work wasn’t keeping him up at night. He said that the outbreak hadn’t created any catastrophes or triumphs for him and that he was thinking about what to do next. How did he stay so calm? “When you’ve been lucky, you just assume you’re always going to be lucky,” he said.
I thought about the rage at bosses he’d described on our last call and asked him if I could float some ideas about the source of that anger. Was it the sheer size of the gap between the rich and the rest of us? He shrugged that off. “You’ve always had that gap,” he said. “Now everybody knows about it.” I pointed out that inequality had gotten worse. He insisted that the most significant change was how much attention we’ve been paying to the gap. He blamed social media.
I reminded him that his views on some things had evolved since the pandemic began. Could he eventually change his mind about this? “It’s not ‘the system,’ ” he reiterated. “Everybody’s got to stop with ‘the system.’ ” He didn’t sound exasperated, just amused. His voice had the same tone of charmed mellowness it’d had five or so weeks earlier. It’s a rich sound.
“Grasshopper,” he said. “Grasshopper, I’ve got to teach you.”
“I don’t know,” he said. “Is war fair? Do people die in a war? Yes. You’ve got a virus that is affecting people. It’s pretty clear who it affects.” He meant people who were old and sick. “So nature is saying, ‘I’m going to pick on you.’ Is it fair? Is it right? No.” His voice was as steady and calm as ever. “But that’s life.”

“You want to change the system? I get that. You want to break the system? You better win. Because, if you don’t, the system is going to break you.”Wise words of the rich man
Public health and private profit were at odds, he answered, and one was going to win out.Terminal case of brain worms.

The two men were not wearing face masks when they entered a Trader Joe’s in Manhattan earlier this month. But when some of the grocery store employees asked the pair to cover their faces, they refused — and went on a rampage instead, police said.
One of them ripped a face mask off one of the workers, who are typically known for their colorful Hawaiian shirt uniforms, according to the New York Police Department. The men, John Carrero and Alejandro Escobar, both 34, pulled one employee’s hair and threw baskets at others. Using a wooden paddle, typically meant to help direct the flow of traffic at cash registers, they began pummeling another employee over the head, police told NBC News.
That worker started bleeding badly and was taken to a hospital, one Trader Joe’s employee on the scene told Vice News.
AD
Carrero and Escobar were arrested shortly thereafter and charged with disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal trespassing, police told NBC. Carrero was also charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, and Escobar was charged with menacing.
The Washington Post was unable to reach an attorney representing them.
Neither Trader Joe’s nor the New York Police Department immediately responded to a request for comment from The Post. In an interview with NBC, Kenya Friend-Daniel, a spokesperson for the grocery store chain, said that eight store employees “suffered some sort of injury” but that all had recovered and were back at work.
Friend-Daniel said that Trader Joe’s is cooperating with a police investigation and that the chain does not think the altercation was prompted by employees’ requests for the men to cover their faces.
AD
“We feel there was a different motivation behind it, such as wanting to start some trouble,” she said.
Yet if the police account of the incident is true, the altercation in the Murray Hill neighborhood underscores how the ongoing culture war over face coverings has increasingly devolved into actual incidents of violence. A minority of Americans who refuse to align themselves with science are also throwing punches and drawing weapons in sometimes deadly signs of disagreement.
Two D.C.-area restaurant employees were assaulted after enforcing mask rules. Others worry they will be next.
In May, a security guard at a Family Dollar store in Flint, Mich., was shot and killed after trying to enforce a face-mask requirement. Days later, a woman in Oklahoma City who had insisted on entering a McDonald’s, which had been partly closed for social distancing, returned with a handgun, firing several rounds and injuring a handful of employees.
AD
But as an increasing number of states and big-box stores require people to cover their faces, such incidents have been reported more frequently — and on occasion, have become more violent.
Within the past week, a San Francisco bus driver was attacked with a bat after asking some teenagers to cover their faces. A hostess at a Michigan restaurant met a similar fate for reminding a customer to do the same. Over the weekend, a man turned away from a Dallas sports bar at capacity returned with a gun, injuring at least four people as he sprayed bullets at the establishment.
Some incidents have had the roles reversed, too. In San Diego, a woman allegedly pepper-sprayed a couple at a dog park last week because they had their faces exposed.

The altercation at the Manhattan Trader Joe’s reportedly began when Carrero and Escobar entered the store at 8:50 p.m. on July 14, just minutes before closing. One of them told a grocery store employee that face masks would no longer be required following the presidential election in November, Vice reported.
AD
Seven workers and three managers were attacked, according to the news site. At one point, Escobar said he would return with a firearm, setting off a feeling of “fear and alarm to employees and customers inside of the store,” police told NBC.
Once the two men had left the store, one of them grabbed a chair and tried to bash in one of the windows to get back inside. Police arrested them minutes later.
Friend-Daniel, the Trader Joe’s spokesperson, told NBC that a security guard had since been hired to protect customers and employees. In addition, all employees at the Murray Hill store were offered a temporary transfer to another location or paid time off.

Hon. Michael Cacciotti:
I’m very concerned about a pattern of corruption and ethical breaches on the South Pasadena City Council and am pondering the best course of action to take. Do I reach out to the press with my story? Do I ask the City Council for an investigation under the newly adopted Code of Ethics for councilmembers and commissioners?
I moved to South Pasadena a few years ago. Had I stayed in NYC, I would be running for a council seat there. I’m a political hobbyist. My wife would say a political junkie. I pay close attention to your council meetings. I’ve gone to some WISPPA meetings. I’ve dug into the history of South Pasadena politics. In fact, I’ve watched past council meetings going back 10 years.
Here’s the deal. You are repeating the same mistake you made when you and your 3 buddies on the council traded the favor of the Police Chief position for your political gain and expediency while you royally screwed over your city. You forced a key personnel decision that was not yours to make. It was corruption plain and simple. It was also a massive ethical breach. I know why you did it. I’m not going to go into that here. I also know that the trade backfired badly when it all came out to the light of day. The mess you helped make of the SPPD is still being cleaned up and paid for by this city.
There were 4 of you involved. The other 3 paid a price and are no longer on the council. You are the only one still on the council. Why is that?
The ladies love to talk. I know how a few played judge and jury and decided to give you a pass. Of course you had to promise them loyalty and contrition of a lesson well learned.
You did not learn from your mistake however. This concerns me. It concerns me a great deal. I see you headed down a path that is once again destabilizing and harmful for this city. I see you gunning for OUR city manager and finance director. I see you being a hypocrite, subjecting them to harassment and questioning that you spared their predecessors. They are running circles around their predecessors and you look like a desperate man.
Look, I get mistakes. I get forgiveness. But what I see happening is a politician who did not learn from his mistake and is repeating the pattern of politically motivated personnel decisions to appease his loyalists and wealthy donors. The status quo is strong with you. You don’t have what it takes to move past cronyism. You had the chance to appoint a commissioner to the recently formed MTIC who shares your values but you chose to appoint the status quo candidate that does not share your vision. This was a real disappointment.
You’ve turned into a career politician hanging on to relevance whose opinions and decisions are corrupted by his debt to his loyalists. Are they now demanding pay back for their forgiveness of that original sin, that original ethical breach for which you were never formally investigated and publicly censured?
I truly hope you can regain your composure and reflect on your trajectory. I’m not betting on it though given your history. I will be watching and asking questions. Tread carefully, Sir! I like what I see happening at city hall. I like the way the city manager and top brass are taking care of us during this time of horrific crisis. I like the service I get from all the departments I have contacted. Some of these have been test contacts and this crew has passed with flying colors. Your biases are showing front and center, dear Hon. Michael Cacciotti.
Yours Truly,
Mel Trom
Vigilant South Pasadena Resident

In May, all West Wing staff were briefly ordered to wear masks at work. To this day, many continue to do so by choice, for their safety and health, with one senior Trump official telling The Daily Beast that they wear one because “I’m not a moron.” So you’d think the first high-ranking official to put one on might get some credit from his colleagues.
But this is the Trump White House, where logic isn’t always king and petty personal beefs can easily turn national policy on its head. A select group of officials have grown increasingly frustrated with Deputy National Security Adviser Matt Pottinger—for putting on a mask shortly after the coronavirus outbreak was declared a pandemic.
Months later, these senior officials still trash Pottinger behind closed doors for his decision to wear a mask at a time when their boss, President Donald Trump, and other senior administration officials chose to avoid wearing face coverings, according to three senior officials and one former official. Some of those close to Trump viewed Pottinger’s mask-wearing as an indication that the deputy national security adviser was publicly challenging the president, one of those senior officials said.
