Got Bayonetta in the last pic last year- Was showing some protective cases I picked up from retroprotection.com.  They have a lot of sizes available including some made for various LE boxes!

Of course I'm not playing them all, lol.  I'm a collector, too.  Waiting for the chance to re-sell things as well.  I sold off two Saturn games recently and it paid for a lot of stuff I got after that.

Picked up Steam double dips of Dragon's Dogma and MVC:I for some reason, along with Trover saves The Universe as planning on dragging out the VR this weekend.

Also preordered FFXIV Shadowbringers and SamSho as well so I am over budget games wise for the month.  :(

Apart from those games, I've purchased so little for Playstation 4 this year.  Most of my game time is on PC and Switch now.  I'd almost consider just dropping PS4 altogether but there's always something looming on the horizon like Samurai Shodown and now Granblue Fantasy Versus. 

The collector side of me would just be fine with Switch and Vita physical games.  It's always tempting to see about ditching most of my PS4 stuff and just going digital for the few games I want to play on there.

I still have some of the "RARE!!!!!11" Saturn games I need to put up for sale, too.  If I can sell them for the higher-end prices, that's probably like $1200-$1500 for a handful of titles.  Shit is insane nowadays.

I am legit thinking of wiping out pretty much all of my collection, it just sits there. Seems like it would take a lot of effort and time tho.  :lol

I'm not doing that for the time being, but I do plan to sell off most of the older stuff (sold a big chunk last year, but still have NGPC, PSP, GC, Wii, Wii U, GB/GBA, and DC stuff) and just keep a Playstation1-3, Vita, and Switch collection.  Am not even sure if I want to stick with physical PS4 stuff in the future and might just go digital with PS5.  Depends on how they handle things.

Expanding on this- Last summer I took a whole bunch of stuff out to a mom n' pop game store in the sticks.  They took everything I had, but the owner refused to pay me cash for the import games unless I gave him the 'rare' stuff I had.  He didn't want to give me enough for those games, so I declined, took half in cash and half in store credit, immediately went and bought up stuff I wanted to have or figured I could re-sell, and never went back.  Most of the stuff I gave them is also stuff that's not worth enough to go sell off individually and I was happy as hell to get rid of it.  :lol

There's another store that's about 45 minutes one-way that also takes stuff.  I might try going there with some of the system libraries I wouldn't mind parting with after checking eBay to make sure there's nothing too high-priced in there, of course.   :P

LOL.  Anything you see from Limited Run Games, East Asia Soft, Red Art Games, Strictly Limited Games, Super Rare Games, and some of the other "indie" titles (which is the majority) aren't full price titles and can cost as low as $25.  I pre-ordered them months in advance so it's not like I bought all this stuff at one time! 

The only real expensive thing I bought recently is that Razer Huntsman Elite keyboard.  But it was also mah birfday last month and I used some gift money to cover a big chunk of that.  :)

But yeah, I do buy too much vidya regardless of pricing.  A big argument for why going digital would probably be good for me- I don't go nuts with digital releases.

I really don't think I'd buy all that much if I went solely-digital on the consoles- if you take the collecting aspect away, I'd only give a shit about a small number of games/genres.

FMP was super cheap on Amazon, pretty basic SRW-lite type game.
Left Alive was only $17 at Gamefly last month and still not worth that much.
Valkyria Chronicles was $20 at Amazon, figured the time was right.
Harry Potter was for my daughter. She's obsessed with the books/movies so I thought she'd have some fun playing through it with the Move controller. It's been a hoot watching her play.

KH3 and SRWT were the only full-price titles.

Thinking ahead, the only games I'm planning on picking up the rest of the year are Judgment, Dragon Quest Builders 2 and the new SD Gundam G Generation title. How times have changed from when I was buying a shit ton of games ten years ago.

PS Classic for $30 and some games.  Got Pespiman, in excellent condition, for a decent price with shipping and Night Striker was super-cheap, yet came in mint condition.  Even the spine card looked untouched.

It's just the logo- no sequels.   :lol

Nightstriker is a 1989 3D sprite-scaling shooter along the lines of Space Harrier/After Burner/Galaxy Force/etc developed by Taito.  Googling it, I did not know that it first came out on the Mega CD (Wiki says it was a poorly-done and received port that never came out outside of Japan) but I used to have it on PS1 back in 1995 or 1996.  It also came out on the Saturn and was included on one of the Taito PS2 classic game compilations, but it doesn't look like the American versions had it.

The FMV cut scenes are entirely in English with American actors...yet it never came out outside of Japan.  Dunno if Pepsiman was a mascot in any other countries.  AVGN did a review of it recently so prices started climbing.

Nah, but I keep talking about it.   :lol   Might just go all-digital after PS4 and wind the collecting thing down with the next-gen- it feels generally pointless buying most PS4 physical games apart from the few limited runs I do want or getting games on sale cheaper physical than what's offered on PSN.  With a few exceptions, I pretty much just get stuff either digitally and/or wait for huge discounts before picking them up on PS4 nowadays.

I like getting Vita and Switch stuff, though.  Carts!

- The Evil Within 2 (played a bit, pretty good)
- Tekken 7 (better than expected but I'm not good enough for serious multiplayer)

Mad Dog McCree 1-2, Need For Speed, Quarantine, Super Street Fighter 2  2 Turbo, Demolition Man, Return Fire, Battle Chess, Night Trap, Slam N Jam, Total Eclipse, Space Hulk, Road Rash

Road Rash, Space Hulk, Battle Chess, Night Trap are my favorite games.

Space Hulk is super fucking hard and quite thrilling if you can get over the dated engine and presentation. It's a pretty intense strategy title!

Quarantine is so cyberpunk but the framerate is struggling most of the time. There's a constant alt-rock soundtrack playing which is neat.

Crime Patrol, Star Control, Flashback and Out of this world are the last remaining games I really want, but 3do games prices are getting stupid right now, I regret not buying them ages ago, same thing with the lightguns. ugh.

the 3do is kind of an acquired taste, I was blown away back in the days when my friend rented one for his birthday (ahh the nineties), being able to play those fmv lightgun games at home was amazing. Same thing with the superior port of Night Trap. Samurai Shodown was an amazing port back then.

Been having some trouble getting older games due to either sellers being scummy fucks or shipping screw-ups.  Kyuutenkai and Street Fighter Collection were both the second purchases of those games after never getting the first ones.  Was easy to get refunded so not that big a deal, I guess.  Been trying to get Cyberbots for PS1 and still no luck- the first copy never arrived from the USPS and the second copy is now listed as "Alert - Awaiting Delivery Scan" which apparently means "might come in the next few days or you're fucked lmao."

As far as "failed" systems go, the 3DO is certainly one of the better ones. It's got a pretty large library and some fun games that still hold up - decent quality ports of popular Amiga and DOS games of the day, some original games, even due to its Panasonic association a few quality Japanese exclusives.

I have the following:
Shockwave, Lucienne's Quest, The Horde, The Incredible Machine, Seal of the Pharaoh, Road Rash, Return Fire, Jurassic Park, Way of the Warrior, Gex, Guardian War, Super Wing Commander, Trip'd... A mixture of solid games and some funny kusoge... Lucienne's Quest was a charming super-early 3D RPG that costs big $$$ (probably one of the rarest and most obscure US-released RPGs). Guardian War is from the same team (Microcabin) and is a neat little SRPG. Return Fire I really enjoyed, especially multiplayer, though the public-domain classical music was a bit strange. Seal of the Pharaoh is a simplistic dungeon crawler with an Egyptian theme. The Incredible Machine is a puzzle game based on a PC title. Shockwave is an average-to-decent 3D flight sim/action game. Jurassic Park is hilarious in how shitty it is. Trip'd is a Puyo Puyo/Tetris type falling block game that's not nearly as drugged out as its name suggests. The Horde is a cool city building, early tower defense type game with a cameo from Kirk Cameron.

I'll have to look into Space Hulk. Not a big strategy guy (excepting the occasional SRPG) but neat, obscure exclusives are my bag. Quarantine I remember sounding neat in previews, kinda like a super-early take on GTAIII/open world gaming, but the reputation it has makes it sound awful.

Re: Cyberbots- It never came after saying it was out for delivery.  No slips left or anything.  Dumb shit from the USPS as usual.  Sat on the phone for an hour on Monday to open a case, got a phone call back on Tuesday saying they were checking what happened, and heard nothing.  Had free time after work today so decided to go down there and sure enough, the package was just sitting there.  This is sadly not the first, nor will it be the last time, that this has happened.

Definitely stop by next year, it just gets better year after year... the first year it was in a hotel ballroom with a bunch of vendors and a few CRTs, now we take up half of the Cradle of Aviation museum (as a bonus you can get to look at some planes and the Lunar Lander while you attend the expo). A close friend of mine runs the "museum" area with a ton of awesome video game obscurities - FM Towns Marty, a working* X68000, a ZX Spectrum, Amiga 500, Apple IIGS, this year we even had a 64DD and a Casio Loopy. Jeremy Parish and Kurt Kalata (Hardcore Gaming 101) also are regular guests, this year we had My Life In Gaming, Pat the NES Punk, Leonard Herman (writer of "Phoenix), and last year we had John Hancock and RGT85.

*well, this year unfortunately it died on day 2 of the expo and he's in the midst of replacing the bad part(s).

If you want a good mechanical keyboard that's on the cheaper side, but not shit, check out these from Havit.  They're really nice quality and thin profile.  I don't use the 87-key one I have for gaming (use Razer for that), but for work, and it has held up like a champ.  $60 and $70 U.S- not wireless, though- dunno what a good wireless 'gaming' keyboard is going to be.

Oninaki runs in English.  Another game that only got a digital release over here- Square and Capcom tend to do this more than anyone else.  The latter just opened pre-orders for a Rockman box set that will cost around $100 U.S. and comes with every game released on Switch in physical form- including Rockman Legacy Collection 2, which was a download code in all regions.  It will also have a space for the upcoming Rockman Zero collection, which may indicate that it's the last Mega Man re-release.  Oh, and Dead Or School runs in English, too.  It isn't listed as even coming out in the U.S. yet, but I'm sure English being included means it will later on.

Yeah- they're sold out right now but should get more stock this week.  Amazon also has copies now for around $70-ish with Prime shipping options available.

There's also an Asian version that comes with an English cover.  Not sure where you can get that right now.

yeah... when i realized i had games on my "to play" list for almost two decades now, i figured it was time to throw in the towel. i try to only buy games now if i know i'll have time for them, and even then i still have a million free games thanks to psn and humble bundle and whatnot.

I don't plan to play all of them- I collect too.  Most of those limited run-type games don't get opened with the hopes I can sell them off for a profit later on.  Sometimes you get a Gryphon Knight Epic or Enter The Gungeon CE that go for hundreds of dollars already...and sometimes you get a Mutant Mudds that goes for $12.   :lol    I did recently decide to stop getting a lot of stuff for PS4 recently and sold off a shitload of games.  That Transistor PS4 copy was pre-ordered before this, otherwise wouldn't have bought it.

On the non-limited run side of things, though, I did cancel a shitload of pre-orders recently. I wasn't going to get Dragon Quest XI S at release but it was pointed out that since Nintendo published it, the price likely won't drop anytime soon if at all, so I re-ordered it for $50 after seeing that DQ Builders 1 is still like $50+ on Switch despite being $15 or less on PS4.

But games like The Witcher III on Switch, which I'm interested in?  Not buying for full price when you can get it on other platforms dirt cheap.  Will wait for a big price drop.

That's my next upgrade, an ultrawide.

Got my 3900x up running, and really bought new everything except my GPU which I will keep until next gen of cards I think. The Be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 rev. 2 is one hell of a case as well, really pleased with all of it. My ram is having trouble running at 3600mhz though, most that I seem to be able to do is 3200mhz.

What's the experience like if you say; hook up a PS4?  Or play a game that doesn't support Ultrawide?

It's either going to stretch the screen and look like garbage or just run with borders on the sides.  Am assuming that all monitors nowadays have proper aspect ratio options. 

It can be annoying when some PC games don't support 21:9 (even if it's just with borders).  It's only been a few titles for me, but having to run the games in a bordered window at a lower res sucks- doing 1920x1080 this way on my 2560x1080 monitor makes the image get covered by the taskbar, lol.  Guess I can try hiding it next time. :thinking

it'll just play with borders on the side for a console and most pc stuff, but pc is pretty good about support. there's some weird cases like fighting games or overwatch, which has "ultrawide support" but its just the widescreen view zoomed in so you have less fov. :lol

on a side note, played a bunch of quake 3 last weekend in ultrawide and it was :delicious

I played a few hours over the weekend. If you liked the systems of The Legend of Legacy but felt that you couldn't get into it because of the lack of story and difficulty then good news! This game takes a lot of the systems from that, adds a couple of things, and a story and dungeons. It's definitely a game for JRPG traditionalists who are willing to learn a system that is slightly more complex than your average FF/DQ/Tales game.

The three Samurai Shodown 2019s are PS4, Switch, and then the Euro Switch version because it came with a physical copy of the NeoGeo Pocket Color Samurai Shodown! 2 port.  This kind of stuff is always going to sucker me in. :drool

In: LG 27GL850-B 27" Ultragear QHD Nano IPS Monitor

Will be using this for both my PC and consoles since I need the space- going to use my 34" 2560x1080 LG monitor for work.  The smaller size frees up enough desk space for me to move some more stuff onto it and also make use of the space where the TV used to be.  Have read that 1440P monitors don't play well with consoles, but ordered an mClassic, which is supposed to fix that.

This is the first 2K monitor I've owned and IT NICE.  Huge leap in image quality.

The mClassic works great with 1440P and is absolutely worth picking up if you want to use consoles on a 2560x1440 screen!  Switch in particular looks fantastic!
